computer help

So far I have purchased like 6 e-machines for my dads shop currently all are still working and very smoothly I might add the plus we payed under 300 for each one. I recommend a somewhat up to date e-machines over any dell ever built. www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?Recs=10&Nav=|c:6|m:305|c:2661|&Sort=0 that link should be a list of a bunch of e-machines under 400 but about half are under 300. I would suggest one with 1gb of ram and then getting someone who knows how to go into bios and turning your video card up to a 256mb you would be surprised what those on board video cards can do. My brother plays WoW on one with full graphics and only 512 ram and another 256 dedicated to video card. I have only had 1 go bad and I could have had it replaced right away but thought it was a simple problem (stupid me) so my warranty expired. Tiger Direct is one of the best pc websites out there and you can trust them to replace your item if it does not work and in most cases refund if you decide its not up to your expectations. In any pc under 300 bux you can have issues with cheep motherboards etc but I believe a dell is more likely to have that issue then a e-machines. Thats just my opinion but I hope it helps you decide.

One thing I learned about computers is buy them local. This way you can bring your computer in for service rather then ship expensive boxes.

This guy knows what hes talking about. I mean if somthing breaks on your pc and its still under warranty the pc place will fix it and ship it back but guess who has to ship it there. Yea look locally im shure there is a small computer shop somwhere around you."thumbsup"

go with this, you wont be sorry, its a very good pc.

Thats a barebone pc which means you have to buy other stuff to complete it or in this case it says its not 100% assembled. You dont have to buy pc's locally I never would personally but I work on mine on my own as well. If you want a cheep pc go for an e-machines they seem to be the best of the worst. If you want a long lasting pc (hardware wise) then have somebody that has building experience and knows what the good brands are build you one. The e-machine will do you good if you take care of it. Just uninstall the extra stuff it comes with that you wont use and change to virus protection of your choice but i recommend www.free.grisoft.com . If you uninstall all that and get one with 1gb of ram then you will have a fast and capable pc. This would be your best bet imo http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2727001&CatId=2661

and this is what you can do with 500 bux

P4 2.8ghz overclocked to 3.6ghz, asus mobo, 1gb pc3200 ram, ati 128mb video card (need upgrade), super big cpu fan (yes thats technical talk lmao) added fan to video card and overclocked it as well. Future upgrades will be best video card it can take and 2gb dual channel overclockable ram.

ok, ill c if Best Buy has them, or Brandsmartusa. thanks for all the help guys!

I have a home built PC that wouldn't cost you much to build now.

AMD X2 4200+
1.5gb ram
500gb hard drive
ATI 1950 video card
Sound Blaster Audigy 4
Coolermaster case, and cooling fans throughout.
Samsung 19" LCD
ASUS Mobo
And other odds and ends that are trivial.

If you build yourself you can usually get decent components at a fair price if you shop around.

only a 19" common... i have 2 displays 20" lg widescreen and a 100" widescreen (projector) i dont use the projector though. I should have upgraded to a athlon processor but i thought the mobo i used to have could take the cpu I bought but it wouldn't take a prescott core. So i got a mobo and a cpu... oh well. So how do you like the x2? I have heard that the fx does better in benchmarks.
