Crawl's 2015 and beyond berg build

Next I'll cover my knuckle weight choice. I've gone with the blue monkey kit this time. However I gave away some of the vital pieces because I was under the impression they were for the rear axle. So ( thanks to friends on Facebook ) I have plenty of add on weights. One disadvantage I see is a lack of ability to stack a half ring over another to make a full ring and save space. Depending on what wheel/hub combo I use, I'll be lucky to get 8-9 oz up front. I'd prefer more. Just how I drive. We will see.

Doing good my mom just had open heart surgery Monday so I'm trying my damndest to get her back on her feet was wanting to swap over my housing before the new season... Hopefully I'll get around to it if not I know where the dog father lives lol!!!! Was hoping to get to work my magic on the room at Nat's and all this came up maybe next year... If u see Troy give him a fondle and a kiss for me miss u guys can't wait till we all can get together again....

Thanks to hulksta and my bud at notch eight designs, I have plenty of killer spacers to use to get widths right. I always aim for 10.75-11 up front and 10.5-10.75 rear. Just to be clear, I'm not claiming notch eight made the star set! He's just a good friend and knew I wanted them. Gotta love friends like that!

Lastly for today, wheel choices. I must own 5 sets of Dlux bead locks and wouldn't part with them. Glue on ( no matter what your argument is) isn't for me. I keep waking up with a nasty headache and my nostrils glued together. So bead lock for life. I'm trying to use all new parts on this rig and spent the time and money to acquire them so what the hell. Here are 2 maybes:

Ok, one more. I've never driven RI but I understand that pins ( set up right ) or lugs both work there. I'll be armed with both unless something catastrophic happens in between now and then. All using 6" CI comp cut foams, we have: EYD voodovers and EYD narrowed voodoos. One set is silver all the way around and one set will be gold front and silver out back.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a good night!

We will have you in our thoughts n prayers bro. Family first. This is just something we do to fill time in between real life man. I'd hoped to see ya but shit, I left a big comp because my son got a little sunburn. It's just Rc. Hope to see ya soon tho! Take care of yourself man!!

Had to throw this last pic up. I knew I had to reduce the rear shock angle but apon doing so fixed the only bind I had. These parts are playing nice together on the bench. Now I just need them to do so on the rocks. As far as I'm concerned, once the electronics are run and radio is programmed, one day of switching out some screws and some loctite and this rig is done!! I couldn't be happier with my decision with these components. One happy crawler!!

Had the chance to check this rig out in person today. Everything on this truck is perfect. Barry did a hell of a job on the axles and I do believe when the season is over and it comes time to retire the XR axles, CCC axles are the way to go. Great looking rig overall David. Looking forward to watching it run on the 30th.

If the rumors are true...... David was afraid the axles were going to be ripped out from under the chassis and confiscated before he left there...... Lol. Something about his stick was bigger than yours..... Roflmao

Haha! Thanks guys. This has turned out to be a fun build. I'd like to throw out a huge thanks to NOTCH EIGHT DESIGNS [ ;) ]!! Wiring is very clean and in the right places! I've read both are important. Also toiled over some upper link locations brought on by wanting the smash to be comfortable. Creation Fab did a fantastic job getting this together. NED also worked some magic on my new radio as well. On to today's pics...

All wired up!

Some upper link changes.

New joy stick. Mt4. I need to read the manual to see if it's possible to slow down the lever action. 1 mm over or under center and the other axle is virtually off. I need more proportional. I'm sure it can be done. Just haven't gotten that far. I'm hoping to fit this up with some wheels and voodoos tomorrow to see how everything looks and feels. As usual, thanks for looking!

I don't think it's the lever on that joy stick David.. Unfortunately, I believe that to be the micro esc's.. I felt the same way about them when I ran them a little over a year ago at the NENQ..
Like running a punk dig! :/

Then again, I didn't mess with the radio at all. Just sold them for some fxr's, at the time..

I don't know why nobody has said anything yet...... But I really like the link line from the front to the rear. The shock angle looks really good and the lines and curves are just dang sexy! For such a quick build I think it has turned out really nice. I am sure you must have that thing right by the pillow keeping a close eye on your new baby!

I couldn't be happier B. It's just little stuff now. There are some places that AL screws don't work for me. So the " mock up" screws need replaced. I need to choose wheels and pack a new set of tires. I'm excited to get the spacers right to get the track widths right. I need to spray some panels but most importantly, I need a broader band or proportional out of my lever on the mt4. I appreciate people's feedback but I drive with guys that run micros with this radio and are not having the same issue. I know I'm damn sure looking forward to the 30th when I know it will get a solid shake down for nats. Don't take that as it won't get driven before then:)

I'm sure you know of this already, but someone on here took a MT4 and installed a different potentiometer closer to where your thumb would sit naturally. I've been doing a bit of research on pot's for Airtronics the last few days. I'm sure you know this too, but I've found driving with the lever on my M12 was a sharp transition between burn/all in/dig and the only solution I found was the absolute mildest throttle and brake profiles I could program in the ESC's, with pretty massive drag brake settings. I couldn't find any dual rate for the lever mix at all. My other idea was to lengthen the "lever" and curve it under the main housing of the TX, above the grip area, giving better access and mode throw-I think more throw would make it easier to modulate.

Let's not assume I know any of this brother. I had my first mt4 experience 4 hours ago. I watch guys with a lot of experience have what I would consider a wide range of speeds with theirs. As good as they may be, I know they are moving that lever more than a mm at a time ya know? It's just frustrating to hear things like " it's the esc's" when I've been told to switch to this radio long before Holmes came out with the minis. One thing of interest tho from today. My bud did tell me that when his mt4 was new, he felt the lever was " pre broken in" compared to how mine feels. Like it's a bit of effort to move that bad boy. Perhaps with use and time mine will soften up and give at least the illusion of more control. Good luck with your experiments and please keep me posted. I bought the radio because I was led to believe I was missing out on control. With my 4pl, every time I clicked the proportion button....I had control. I'm still hoping for the best. Thanks for the in put!!

Link to the guy with the MT4 mod^^^

The potentiometer technology isn't rocket science, I mean heck, I work with them at work and I'm not very bright at all, but from the bit I know about them from work, I don't think there's much variance in them from one to the other, meaning your buddy's feel, is probably just manufacturing tolerances of the plastic lever/bushing/housing from airtronics. If I test 1000 pots at work, I doubt I'd find any with different resistance readings anywhere in their throw, so the light switch effect you're experiencing baffles me a little. I have an m12 not an mt4, but I'd look for a dual rate setting for that lever in the manual. My m12 has a screen that shows the mix while the lever is moved around, does the mt4 have this screen??

Edit... My manual shows a way to program exponential into the lever when the radio is programmed to MOA mode. I bet you can fix your issue with this!

As one of those ppl with experience, it is frustrating to say.. As short form wasn't the best way to leave it...
Let's try.. I believe it to be castle?
Out of the half dozen different fxr smash's I have ran since I started with the MT-4(learning how to solder isn't always cheap, lol), the micros, and 3 different sets of Br's (2 rigs), I have found in my experience and from talking to others(Jslick, as well as member's across the board).. The micro's seem to have the worst mixing. On or Off..
The fxr's have the widest, smoothest, and lowest throttle mixing of all 3..
The Br's where the best give and take between size, mixing, power output and drag brake.

The lever will break in and be smoother thru rotation.
The tx switch was a good move and will lead to better control of ur rig. IMO
