Crawl's 2015 and beyond berg build

Panels done. Now to choose a theme. I dig the simple octagonal panels I've been doing. I'm thinking pink on these. Cap it off with those bright blue wheels and call it a thread.

I've only done this pattern once before. I'll need a refresher course. However I think diamond plate is appropriate for such a solid build. I'm 90% sure this is the direction I'll go. Should look fresh:)

It was time to get my wheel/tire choices all hubbed and spacered up. I like to be able to grab a different tire set and know it's at the track width I like to run. A huge hats off to EYD for these voodovers. I'd also like to thank Barry for link bends. A birdie told me that a fist of clearance under the rear skid is the ticket. While the voodovers come in quite a bit shorter than voodoos, I still get my fist of clearance. I just hope Ri likes these tires as much as I do!
I've also decided to return to my 4pl for worlds. My schedule simply doesn't allow for enough wheel time to master a new radio before sept.

I also went through and popped Gunnar pins in all the way around. Then I replaced those silly 2007 nostalgic hexes on the front with these flat ones I run on everything else. I'm not sure what rig they come from but once I know, I'll be stocking up. I dig the low profile. I like shifts, don't get me wrong. I'm running them out back on this. However I've always liked my slw hubs and they will see use for quite a while.

I'd say a short half n inch. Comparable to your boss claw/ voodoo conversation. The fact that I got the skid clearance with the shorter tire made my day. Now to grab calipers and add a 1/4" spacer and a 1/8" spacer to each wheel to get my desired track width. Just for fun I'll post a pic of my steering angle with the front at 10"....

Last night I had a chance to get one set of tires/wheels hubbed up and spaced correctly. I'm at 10 n 3/4 up front and 10 n 1/4 in the rear. Obviously I still need panels, batt, a few steel screws and a couple oz of knuckle weight but I tossed it on the scale to see where I was anyways.

I made sure bananas were just right.

3.32! Dayum..... Is that the lightest truck you have had? Are you sure you hadn't just weighed the bananas and zeroed it out wrong?? Lol

By far the lightest. Even if I put an extra ring on when knuckle weight day comes, there is no way I'm getting to 4lbs. That cool and unnerving at the same time. It's a lot of change for me. I have to hope I adapt quickly.

Better get it out soon..... 10 days to its first comp and it may be a different feel. Too much knuckle weight and it will get nose heavy in a hurry being that light!

I have to get it on the rocks soon! I need to see what's going on with foam tuning at this weight. I've lost more than a pound ( give or take) and that's going to impact quite a bit. For instance, I was going to firm up the front voodovers. I may not now. We will just have to see.

I do have a set of the Dlux rear weight holders. I'm thinking they'd be better served on my wife's berg. There is a ton of knuckle weight on that rig. I'm hoping to keep the knuckle weight at a minimum for this build. I know there are arguments for both sides of the knuckle weight argument. From where I'm sitting, I see guys with 8oz per side winning and guys with 1oz per side winning. It's weird to me! Thanks for the advice. I'll be running the blue monkey weight kit on this rig
