Did Fourwheeler just kill TTC, or save it?

i actually think they kinda kiled it. the tube buggies and truggies are my favorite part.i mean the trucks are always cool but the buggies and truggies are just bad ass

I have the old videos as well and I will say this. Watching the old stuff with street legal trucks is a real snoozer. It's so boring watching those trucks spin their tires, back up, spin their tires, back up, spin their tires, back up, spin their tires, back up, spin their tires, back up, spin their tires, back up, spin their tires, back up, winch, spin their tires, back up, spin their tires, back up, winch.

I'd much rather watch video of Clayton Kraatz, Don Hadden, or Joe Quichocho bounce across the logs. Or Sam Collins jamming his 66 Ford through the tank trap canyon at full throttle. The newer, non-street legal rigs put on a much better show.

ok i'll say it again, it's called TOP TRUCK and that is what it should be trucks competing against trucks as in stock framed trucks....if people want buggies and truggies then make a class for them to run against like tubers, don't run them against framed trucks plain and simple  ....

look how many true framed trucks can't make it where the custom built tubers can go....just saying there is no way they should run in the same class with each other when over and over you see framed trucks not making the course's the tubers have no trouble with  ........bob

....

I look at it from both sides. I'd like to see 2 seperate challenges, maybe Top Truck Challenge (TTC) and Top Truck Challenge UNLIMITED (TTCU). Rules for TTC would include that it has to be based off of a actual stock frame somehow, retain almost all of the Factory body and be street legal. TTCU should be pretty much open to whatever. Of course A LOT more rules and guide lines would need to be looked at but that is a really basic look at what I would like to see. I love watching crazy huge buggies go balls to the wall but I also like to see realistic truck that pretty much anyone can build without have to sell their house and live on the street.

Tire size is still unlimited so thankfully I don't think we will be going back to completely street legal trucks. Based on the wording of the blog, I think truggies and tube frames will still be legal as long as they run bed sides, cab and front fenders.

I think the new rules, if done correctly, could make TTC more real world and still be exciting.

I think Fourwheeler is kidding themselves with the new rules - No truggies? Seriously? Looking back, I can see quite a few rigs from 10+ years ago that wouldn't be legal under the new rules - this guy included.

I find it hillairious that someone could build a monster on 54" tires, with rocks, four links, a tubular frame, ect. and slap a fiberglass body on it and this is somehow going to make the competition more appealing to the everyday wheeler. Meanwhile a guy who built a back-halfed CJ, Toyota, whatever, is somehow to extreme.

TCC 2013 will be a monster truck rally, mark my words.

I totally understand getting rid of ag tires. Your sponsors aren't going to want to put money into and event where the winning rigs are running ag tires. I'd rather see Interco, Pitbulls, and Mickeys anyway.

I also like making the rigs look like real trucks. Buggies are cool and all, but they should have to run real body panels. These rigs represent what TTC rigs should be.

Oh, and let me just get this out on the interwebs. I think Doug McColloch is the biggest dipwad in the industry. I quit reading Four Wheeler (after 25 years) when he became the editor and I have to mute all my videos when he starts talking. What a tool.

first ones not legal :ror:

That was a good one!

The chopped up Suburbans... the Jimmy's, the Zuks, the CJs... all cool. I kind of lost interest when the tire size got above 44"

I liked seeing the well built rigs that most people could afford to build. And I really liked the old obstacle course. It was pretty cool to see Sam Patton hanging the rear of his CJ out on the high speed sandy turns.
