Started my build tonight of the kit version of the Rubicon JK form Axial. Super excited about some of the new features.

Also excited to mount the new Rigid Light bar for the JK I just got from my friends at VP.

It's gonna be pretty stock initially, but I'm sure that will change in short order :D

Anyway, got my axles built tonight. More to come (Video in the works of coarse)

Special Thank you to the Axial guys and the Vanquish guys for the hookup. Many more pics to follow.

What are these new features? Looks like the same ol' SCX10 chassis to me.

Chassis hasn't changed true, Why mess with a good thing? But they have made some updates.

Most notable to me are the Icon licensed shocks, these should be a nice improvement over the old plastic units. Machined pistons, threaded aluminum bodies. I like the new tires a lot more than the standard ripsaws as well. These are a licensed Maxxis tire. Larger diameter for more clearance. Poison spider front and rear bumpers, Actual Jeep licensed JK body.

It's the most scale SCX10 kit to date. The whole idea is scale realism, getting the actual 1:1 manufacturers involved is pretty cool in my book.

Just making sure I wasn't missing any significant mechanical update. I agree on the Trepadors, I like them better than the Ripsaws too, and the shocks, it's good to see a much more precision valve. I wasn't too happy assembling the shocks that came with the Dingo kit. The valves are pretty crude and are a sloppy fit between the e-clips. I almost waited for the Rubi kit, but I'm glad I didn't because I've been having a blast this past month, hehe. Have fun with the build!

While it's cool that a big manufacturer is bringing scale goodness to the masses, there will always be a place for 1-off builds and custom pieces. Hopefully as the hobby continues to progress the newcomers will keep finding the motivation to head in to the garage to tinker and work on custom projects.

There is no doubt, there are some insane 1-off custom builds on here. But for someone like me to lacks the time and technical know how to achieve such feats this is pretty cool!

Well due to some influential builds by some die hard members here I've certainly gotten more motivated to do custom work.

I'm gonna go make some popcorn as this build should get pretty good...

The new shocks are very nice!

Aluminum shock bodies have laser engraved Icon and axial logos on them. The new pistons are MUCH smoother than the old molded units and the aluminum reservoirs really add a nice scale element to them as well.

Good to hear. I'm hoping the shock bodies have the same ID as the regular shocks and the piston is close to the same thickness as the old poopy ones. I'm still running stock shocks in front and want to upgrade to the new valves when available.

Looks good and i love the new shocks. God I wish I could get mine now but I'll be waiting another month. Im curious if those shocks will be seen on a new/revised Wraith kit with the new BFGs...hmmmmmm

How do you like the hand-wound Tekin motors? Are you going to be running the 35T on 2 or 3s, and what gearing? What is your overall goal for setup going to be with this rig on a scale of creeper <---> basher?

Sorry, question after question...should I stop asking questions??? :lmao:
