Gauged ears

The "Point" of it? Why does it have to have meaning? There are people all over the world that have been doing this for thousands of years! Some to show wealth. Some to show a passage into manhood. Some to show what tribe they belong to. Some just because they adorn themselves for looks. For a lot of people it shows patience like another poster said. It takes a lot of time to "stretch" not gauge to the size that some people make it to. And by the way no matter how big you stretch to it can be reversed.

There is no need to take them out. But if you wanted them out it would take 2 seconds to do so. It's not as easy to rip or tear out of your ear as one would think. I've seen over 100lbs hung from lobes before. So in a fight you would be just fine as far as your stretched ears go.

I can't believe how judgemental people are on here sometimes:roll: We could only get jobs at a circus? How about business owners with stretched ears! I'm one! Matter of fact I know many business owners that are covered with tattoos and stretched ears! We are God fearing, college educated, business owning, gun carrying, have families that help make this country go round!:flipoff: So instead of thinking that everyone that you see that has stretched ears or a lot of tattoo is just some punk kid that won't go anywhere in life think again. We have morals, standards and manners. Don't put all of us in the same boat! And I would love for one of you or a stranger to tell me to my face how stupid it is or looks. Grow up you closed minded judgemental people....

great post kenny. i get shit for mine nearly every time i go out in public. occasionally i have a conversation with a respectful stranger about them, but not often. usually people talk to me like i'm the devil and that i'm never going to make it anywhere in life. thank goodness for hoodies "thumbsup"

Yeah, I hear you. Thankfully, my wife isnt a fan of metal..."thumbsup"

haha yeah sometimes i wish mine wasn't. although lately she hasn't been listening to it very much, so now she doesn't want me to go to shows cuz she doesn't want little scene girls flirting with me

yup, and the kids that get an entire sleeve tattoo at once... usually, it hasn't been earned and doesn't mean much except they have access to daddies credit card.

I guess actually I have one tattoo...I broke a pencil point off in the ring finger of my right hand, while reaching into my pocket about 20 years ago. So I guess I earned that one "thumbsup"

the odd thing is that never once has any of them ever made fun of me because I don't. I show them the same respect.

Oh my god, you don't have any tattoo's? What are you some kind of freaking square?

I have no tattoos and no piercings...I have nothing against them, it's just not for me. I've met many people that do though, and the odd thing is that ONLY once has any of them ever made fun of me because I don't. I show them the same respect.

Fixed

^ lol

I always thought it was interesting to see stretched ears, first time i saw stuff like that i was a kid looking threw a nat geo mag. One picture i remember a lady had what looked like a salad plate stretching her bottom lip. I like body modifications, they are interesting and unique. Ive always wanted to do suspension and i realy think scarification is cool, i only have tattoos though.

I agree 100% with Kenny. Personally, my lobes are stretched to 1/2'' and have been stretched for around 10 or 11 years now. I've never ran into an instance that I was unable to get a job due to my lobes. I've even worked in a corporate, cubicle, Office Space-like job and had bosses who had numerous tattoos, including full sleeves and stretched lobes. Body modification is becoming more widely accepted these days and as it was said before...different strokes for different folks.

Agree with Kenny too, never get bothered at work about it and if I do they are more curious than anything, it's funny how many customers ask me to take one out then they cringe like it hurts so bad, they are always suprised to hear that it doesn't hurt at all...except for the initial stretch from a 16g to an 8g....that was a bit of a bitch:shock:. I work with older contractors as the head counterman for an electrical wholesaler so I deal with all kinds of people all day, I have never had one person treat me bad and thats because I have a good personality and am easy to talk to. It has a lot to do with how you present yourself, if you do it respectfully you get it in return."thumbsup"

yeah i've not had problems with jobs since i did mine either. if it weren't for the fact that my department is outsourced making the rest of the company our "customers" i would be able to wear mine while i work and i could have my tattoos showing as well. my boss is really cool with it, and i work a pretty professional job. i am a real easy going guy, and easy to talk to, but come at me with instant disrespect, you'll either be ignored or have it shown right back to you.

My wife always busts my balls for all my tattoos and now the stretched ears
All my brothers and sisters are all goody goodies I'm the only one in my family with tattoos and peircings
And they all talk shit ...if you don't like it don't look at it and don't talk to me .I'm not out to impress ppl
I was actually considering implants in my head " horns " or possibly splitting my tongue
It's all about expressing yourself

I started this thread thinking there was a bunch of cool ppl on here ..but there's only a handful
And a bunch of ppl that look down on different individuals

And why is he? Cause it's weird. :flipoff:

don't worry about what other people say. i just do what i want to do and don't care what anyone thinks. i just try to be mindful that while body modification is becoming more widespread in the US, it's still not accepted in all fields and circumstances.

i'm kinda like you, i am the oddball of my family. my family is all extremely conservative and goody goody, and here i am with a bunch of tattoos and piercings. it took a while, but my family has finally accepted it and stopped giving me shit about it "thumbsup"

yeah it is weird, but it's what people like him and i have decided to do with our body. i personally like the way it looks, and have no regrets about it. the more everyone continues expressing their individuality and doing things like this, the more "normal" and accepted it will become, and people will stop frowning on us for doing what we house with our own body. "thumbsup"

I agree anal is painful the first time but you get used to it .....Lmao
Tattoos are very addictive I started my sleeve a month ago and all we have left to do is wrap my shoulder and go down my ribs

it's not painful if you stretch them properly ;-) tattoos on the other hand, hurt like crazy in some spots. i am thinking that if everything goes well and i become a machinist that i will be able to get sleeves, i really want them but i'm not gonna get them til i know it's not going to affect my ability to get a job. i won't get my neck or hands done though, i want to be able to cover them up if i need to.

Speaking of hands ....my mother just asked me to get another Japanese flower and a humming bird on the top of my hand cause its her favorite bird
I just don't see where a humming bird fits in with a Japanese sleeve plus tge idea of a man getting a tattoo of a bird just isn't right
I can't get it on my shoulder cause its already spoken for I just don't know what I'm gonna do yet ..I need a couple more skulls and possibly a demonic geisha
Im either gonna do a samurai or a sick ass dragon from my arm pit to the top of my hip
I just don't want it to affect my sons foot print on my chest the bigger the tattoo the better

Go look at my other thread and gimme your opinion on my sleeve just keep in mind its not done

Maybe the kid finds it interesting? If you were in some tribe where tattooing, stretching and scarification were commonplace do you not think someone who is unmodified would look odd? Like Kenny said, we ( humans ) have been doing these things for thousands of years its just some places it seem to be more accepting than others, but there is nothing weird about it. "thumbsup"
