Gauged ears

I'm still curious about my question from back on page 5. For those of you who would choose a person with no visible piercings or stretched earlobes for a job over a person with stretched lobes. Would you still deny a job to someone who had pierced earlobes or someone who had very small stretched earlobes (6g and below for example)? In many cases, unless you're looking at someone up close, if they have solid fronted jewelry in their earlobes, you'd very easily mistake them for normal sized earrings. In fact, even at 1/2'' I get asked at least once a week if mine are normal earrings or stretched lobes and it's just from folks who are curious. Also, what if this person was a female and you didn't even notice at first that she had stretched earlobes because her hair covered them. Would you fire her for it?

i have mine at 2" and i still get asked on a regular basis if they are regular ear rings or if my ear is stretched, and i wear tunnels!

when it comes to jobs, i have always removed all my jewelry for interviews and not even mentioned it until i have the job. then i ask if i can wear them while i'm working, and if not, oh well. anyone that refuses to take their jewelry out while working are the ones that are immature, and don't know how piercings and stretched piercings work "thumbsup"

Just for kicks imagine your screening for a new nanny.

Your telling me that ONE doesnt look like a better candidate based solely on appearance?

I have made a judgement of each person based soley on the pics, and its not wrong or unethical in any way to do so.

also, these flags are often related to racism....if a person wears the flag they are therefore judged a racist.
Your 2 pictures don't hold water though.... The lady with the nails could not perform her job that you were looking for. The other lady can't see to watch your children.....

damn pic wont post....

ok, who 100% for sure isnt a racist here?

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

see our appearance is a justifieable factor

Haha that's great ...a homeboy with a rebel flag

So how is a person gonna judge me from my ink?

No Kenny- Hiring based on accessories worn during an interview is not against the law. Hiring based on ethnicity is. I have said twice that I have friends with gauged ears. I got to know them, and they are good people. When I first met them, I was a little weary. Just the same as when I would do an interview. Now, based on the job I am hiring for, I would consider someone with slightly gauged ears. If I can stick my pinkie through it, no way. I would not hire someone to work with the general public that has gauges- Not because I don't like them, but because society will judge them. My customers will judge them. They will then question me and my management abilities. This is why MOST major corporations have dress codes. Not Apple, but I'm not going into Apple for its customer service. Its the same as if the applicant came in wearing a wife beater and his pants hanging off his butt. It shows a lack of tact, and common sense. If you go into an interview wearing large gauges, more power to you. Once again, it shows lack of common sense, and tact. It doesn't mean you are some thug, or an idiot who doesn't know better.
Kenny, on the bible note. I understand what you are saying, and agree with it (except for the racist thing- thats just a thoughtless, dumb comment...). The bible teaches us that the body is a temple of God. Therefore, if taken in its written form, you are sinning by having tattoos and gauges. I am as well, with tattoos. But, it sometimes helps me to connect with the youth, as tattoos are still unattainable and rebel-esque to them.
I applaud you for being a Mason, as its true men of God who attain the status. This is very impressive.
I really am not trying to offend anyone with my statements. Having gauges is not what defines someone. I realize that. It does affect how people perceive you though. Its kind of confusing why people with gauges know that society, in general, does not accept it as normal, but get mad when society judges them??? Did you really think since YOU have them, people would all of a sudden change their perception??

I can easily say that if we are talking....in home sales.
A person without visable tatoo/peiecings who is equaliy qualified, whould make a better sales rep.

Oe even a person who is not as quaslified, may still represent the companies image better than a person with tats/piercings.

Its all a matter of perception, and employees are the image customers get of the company.

Not always the case, but its totally natural is al I'm saying for your image to play a part in how you look to others, and IMO justified.

And yes, the pics are extremes, I was purposly drawing extremes.
Whats good for the goose, is good for the gander.
If looking at the pics, gave you any opinion of the persons character or ability
then you are passing judgment.

You infact passed judgment saying thay the one "couldnt" see
or the ones nails was too long.

Justifiable in your mind, yet still a judgment based on image.

x2 kenny, Its not my entention to offend, in fact you should have fun here on this earth...cuz god lives life vicariously through his children.(thats you)Same as we do through our children. So if it puts a smile on your face, and you do it for him,(remember we can asl for whatever we want, even to be victorious in battle and to take many heads) and not dispite him...its all good"thumbsup"

oh no in that second pic the girl has her tragus pierced, she's a terrible person! don't let her around your kids!!

Nothing in her apearance gives me pause, or forces me to question her character

The women with the nails and lashes are both potential mental cases.
The transgender, well thats person will likely not have the type of person opinions about various topics I want taking care of my child in my absence. Of the 4 pics, the one looks like the most level headed and well rounded personality of the group IMO

The lady with the nails could not even open a door, or drive or pick your kid up or anything a care giver should be able to do for a child.... same with the eyelash lady ( they look fake anyways idk about yall but ive never trimmed my eyelashes and they have been the same legnth my whole life :ror: )

so out of 4 choices only 2 can do the job you want. ps the last one does look like a man, id choose the hot cop lady ;-)

if you had 4 ppl wanting to work for you, I think if 2 were not pierced or tattooed they could do the same job or fit the same working requirements of 2 that were........ also, personaly id rather support a business that shows diversity among its staff than a place that has no one with tats or piercings.

Nothing personal, but that's some stoopid stuff...and it'll really help you get ahead in life. "thumbsup"

You should be able to look forward to a promising career in either the food service industry, or possibly sewage collection. Good luck with that. "thumbsup"

I've always wondered what would you do if you got in a fight?
Try to hurry up and take them out?

Yeah, I'd think the first thing I'd wanna do would be get both index fingers in there and rip down toward the feet like a pair of window shades! :lmao:

Kenny, it seems as though you're taking the judgment thing too seriously or as an insult. There's nothing wrong with it. Everyone does it, doesn't mean they're bad. People judge other peoples hair, looks, body type, clothes, the way they wear their pants, shoes, everything. People judge based on the music you listen to, the people you hang out with at the bar/club. The "toys" you play with at the park on the rocks. It's not bad to judge people. First impressions mean a lot.

Say you were wearing a band tee of a band that I didn't like, I may judge you on your taste in music without even knowing what it was. No big deal. Now, if I were to talk to you, chances are we probably like some of the same bands. I agree with what rock hard has been saying, despite his many spelling mistakes.:flipoff:

No where in the bible does it say it's a sin to tattoo or pierce your body. It's mentions not to mark your body with other God's of worship. I've been tattooing a pastor for years now. In Rev it says that everyone will be marked when Christ returns. But I'm not trying to get into a debate over what the bible says here. Our bodies are of this earth. They do not go with us.

You infact passed judgment saying thay the one "couldnt" see

No, that was based on could they do the job I would be hiring for. Could the lady with the nails perform CPR on my girl? Could she get a piece of food lodged in her throat out if she was choking? The answer is no. Therefore I would not hire her. The other lady can't see. She could not do any of the task I would need. Again, I wouldn't hire her based on that. If it were just a trick or talent she had and could see fine then I would have no prob going on with the interview.

I choose to look the way I do as everyone else did that is tattooed or pierced. I'm just fine with that. But I still live in America. And as long as I do I will do my best to stand up for my rights. I have the right to look any way I want and NOT BE DISCRIMINATED against based on my tattoos and piercings for a job. There are a few cases where I know it truly matters. Elect work, doctor, etc... where the jewelry could case harm to yourself or others if it came out or touched something.

Kenny- It does it-
1 Corinthians 6:19-2
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body,"

It doesn't say its a sin to get tattoos or piercings, but it does say honor God with your body. I am not in a debate with you- You brought up the bible and that you are a youth minister. I just wanted to point this out. Also, it does not say to not mark your body with other gods(lower-case when you are describing deities not of our God). It states to not worship idols...Just a heads up

My ears are stretched to a 0ga. I work in a casino and have to take em out or cover them up every day. I usually cover them so guests notice it. Over the 13 years I've worked there I could count the number of times I had someone tell me that I was crazy for doing it on one hand. They almost always have no opinion or think the company is dumb for the "standard" that they hold. Plus IMO, it boils down to a sexual discimination situation because I can't wear earrings of any kind while females are allowed to. When I first started there we were also not allowed facial hair. Thank goodness that ban has been lifted!
