GT3B Hack Question and Answer Thread

wow finally got one of these to tinker with and its awesome, took a couple hours of playing with it and a little reading LOL but got the rig set up with 10% per click on the dual rates, (dialed in perfectly), front and rear dig on the ch3 trim switch and an added bonus having momentary dig on the ch3 button works super sweet, thanks guys for an awesome platform!!

Alright, sorry for the newb question, but I've never run anything more than 2 channels.

I'm looking to run a winch, and lights.

Headlights, light bar, and rock lights (I'd like each on their own channel to run independent but still be able to run all at once of I want)

Possibly a dual winch setup eventually but what's listed above is all for now.

Is this simple to setup?

Typically, lights of any kind need a controller that plugs into the RX to control the lights. You could use a small servo to operate a switch for each light circuit.

For the lights, you would just pick a switch on the TX, and make it (more than likely) a 2 position switch to turn the lights on & off.

Ok, here is a weird one.
BRXL
GT3B
CCBEC

I reset the TX to default, Bind it to the RX, calibrate the throttle. Turn everything off, Pick up everything the next day, and the throttle will be off. I'll get creep forward and reverse. I can try to recalibrate the throttle, but it doesn't entirely fix till I re-bind the TX.

My theory is the Throttle pot is bad, but that is just a theory.

Had the same problem when I ran an FXR. I have even gone so far as to open the throttle dead band up on the BRXL.

I ordered a gt3c amd hack it as well as winch amd light controllers from Al at heyok performance so I should be set whenever everything arrives

What else do you have in your electrical system? I had a similar issue with a cheap winch controller and the power up delays of certain devices. Basically either the rx would power up too early or late, never could figure it out. But I did fix it by using the power from the device that I was having issues with.

Try powering your rx only from the brxl and everything else (if any) directly from the bec.

If your speaking of my issue, I'm running a HeyOK winch controller. I'm running the BEC to the RX at 6v. Identical setup to what I have in my sons honcho. His truck is also running a 3b, but with none of the throttle issues.

Yep I was! And can confirm the Heyok stuff is more than likely not your issue. Only other thing I would recommend is try another rx. One has given up on me so far for no apparent reason.

Ok, swapped in a new RX, then a Known Good RX and the esc still "coasts" in forward and reverse.

I also tried to just use the BRXL power rather than a BEC.

I'm still leaning towards either a setting I'm not aware of, or a bad throttle pot.

It almost seems as though as its an anti lock brake system or something allowing it to coast before the drag brake kicks in.

I read that you suspect that the throttle signal might be moving around when you expect it to be still.
Maybe try this: Swap the CH1 and CH2 receiver plugs so that the throttle will work the steering servo and the steering will work the ESC. If you see the steering moving when you aren't touching it, you will know that something is strange with the throttle channel

you nailed it... ch1(steering) put on the throttle works great. Ch2 put on the servo makes the servo wander in the direction of forward throttle.

Now, Is this pot something I can clean, repair? My TX is hacked with tweaks. Should I buy another TX and swap in the throttle pot?
