Rock Stacker
Hi every one,
I'm Jimmy aka hanjin-san and I live in the south of France.
Let me introduce you my first scale build, started in 2011, based on a Axial SCX10 Honcho kit.
I usually start a project build by creating a 3d modeling of the project. So, here is the first render:
For the making of the rollcage, I've made a aluminum jig, who have the same holes location of the SCX10 châssis:
So, let's starting the first parts made with brazed stainless steel tubing;
The sliders:
Mounted on the jig:
Rear part mounted on the SCX10 châssis:
More brazing:
Some reinforcement:
Now the shocks and spare tire mounts:
"wheelarches" and lights mounts:
Spare tire butterfly nut:
More tubes:
Now the front bumper:
Stinger and front protection (different than the first design):
Some details:
I made aluminum floor for electronic elements:
Hi-lift mount:
New crossmembers:
Now, it's time to paint the Proline Comanche body. Definitives colors:
Done with Tamiya sprays and Parma paint:
The cage is sandblasted:
And painted with silver automotive polyurethane paint:
Crossmembers and floors are black anodised:
Details for a better look:
Front and rear homemade hubs:
Homemade winch hook with fonctionnal latch:
Shackles made with cotter pins:
Electronic implantation:
And the final render at this step:
After few months of running, it's time to make some scale improvements.
First, the front wheelarches, made with Lexan sheets:
I also made some Jeep look like mirrors.
From left to right: PVC prototype to find the best shape, stainless steel "master" and resin final part:
Painted, mirror sticker on it and mounted on the body:
Yokomo wipers:
To feed the greedy 4 liters inline 6, I decided to install a propane tank :ror:
First the body, made with PVC tubing:
Plugs, glued on the body and shaped on a lathe:
Styrene détails:
And white paint:
Brass tap:
Valve knob:
Mountin plate:
All the parts together:
And mounted on the truck:
After a stock "Y" link break, I decided to mount a 4 link set up on both axles.
On the rear with the Axial link mount:
And on the front with some homemade parts:
And of course, some photos and filming runs I'll post later ;-)
Oh, and sorry if my english is a little bit weird
