Harley's TCS X-Trail

Here's another question about installation...

Harley would you mind posting how yours are mounted. I tried mounting them like your CAD design and they sit way to low. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or what but if I don't fab up some hangers I don't see anyway these will work right now. Pics please of yours....

^^2x on the install pics

My opionion is that unless you want a low rider I think you got to fab mounts. This is especially true if you are only putting leafs on the front like I am for my truggy.

Any answers yet?

I have them on my FJ without any hanger. As far as scale appearance goes the lower ride height looks great. The FJ performs very well, I run wieght in all 4 tires and the suspension cycles well.

If you are going to run a hybrid suspension then you will probably have to make some provisions to equalize the ride height. With the huge variations in scale trucks it is very hard to design something to work for everyone.

You have any plans to make some leafs with normal eyes? I'd like to have a set of delrin leafs to run on my scaler myself.

Wow guys! All gone already. Both production and patent issues held us up on these. We're still working on the patent paperwork, but that will no longer hold us up. The production end of it is also getting worked out and we are close. We had less issues with the fronts and I'll see if I can get more asap as a short run. Full blown proto-tester production I hope can be achieved in about 2 weeks time so we can get you guys as many of these proto-testers as you want.

Also, for those of you that have purchased the proto-testers, please give us as much feedback as possible so we can take these to full blown production asap. Thanks

Sorry to get off topic, but I've notice the mention of patent documents and patent applications in some of your threads and was curious if you have been successful in getting a patent on any of them. With the hobby industry so competitive and so many products that share common features, in my opinion it seems very hard next to impossible to get an actual patent on an RC product coming out of the crawling vendors. I have been involved with patent applications, with having been successful in receiving a patent on a previous invention myself and from my experiences, find it hard to believe patents would be possible with crawling parts so similar to each other in the industry. I don't mean any disrespect in asking the question and maybe I'm way off on this one, but possibly you can shed some light on any patents that may have been issued to you, that would change my mind on the whole issue.
Thanks in advance for any information you can share,John

I was thinking the same thing. Getting a patent on a leaf spring would be unlikely.

i was just wondering are there holes already in the x-trail chassis for the mounting of leafs or if not is this something that will be added in the future to the production chassis.

No, we have no plans to produce traditional leaf springs. They are already available through various sources.

Call me a dumb n00b, tell me to use the search function, whatever. As far as I know there arent any vendors currently selling delrin leafs so if you could point me in the direction I'd appreciate it."thumbsup"

I am not sure if delrin leafs are being produced for sure, but Darkhorse was producing them for awhile. Stock springs from a High Lift can also be used as well as Bruiser springs.

He isnt anymore. Diaz had mentioned it but then disappeared. I'm sure it would be worth your time.

i just got my xtrail and front leafs in the mail today, my chassis dosent have the holes to mount the leafs tho.. is it supposed to be like that?

Hello and sorry for the delayed response. Yes, because these are just prototype test parts, there are no holes in the chassis yet for them. So you must drill the holes yourself.

x trail chassis

I purchased the x trail chassis...cool and great stuff. I am using the supplied inner springs however i have not purchased the leafs....I want to keep the truck hi-lifted.......however, I am having troubles taming the forward twist on the axles...especially on the rear...any one have some pointers?

thanks:-P

phase10, eventually the stock side rails will have the holes in them for the leaf springs.

SloCrawler, you can try using our medium and or hard internal springs to help keep the truck from twisting up so much.
