Hey PP... you got any recommendations on a budget (ie <$75) record player with a 3.5mm audio output jack?

Nothing fits those requirements that I know of. To get a record player for under ~$75 you'll need to visit a Goodwill store, or get lucky at a garage sale. None will have a 3.5mm out, as that just doesn't happen. The record player will need to be plugged into something that does some stuff (RIAA equalization and amplification) to work right. Cheapest new one is about $300 but still needs the addition equipment. Vinyl cannot be done on the cheap, for the most part. You could go to a Goodwill store, find an old 70s record player and receiver and hope for the best, but I doubt that'd be under $75.

BTW, vinyl is always singular, never plural. "thumbsup"

I'm still searching for a new set as I can't imagine these headphones lasting much longer.
Try Sennheiser's HD 4xx line up. I went with the $35 419 model and like em enough to recommend them as a cheapie. Smaller than a full size headphone, but still big enough to fit over my ears. Bassy, but not overly. Decent sounding. Good after a while as my brain adjusts to the sound. If you want to spend more, I can assist you with that also.

Nice. They're heavy on advertising right now because they've yet again redone their line up with a new driver. Even in magazines etc that they'd usually not give a crap about.

I bought SR60s in 1994 or 5, and used them constantly as I walked around OSU campus. Just a few years ago I gave them to my Dad, who used them about twice. Dang it. But honestly, I don't really care for the Grado house sound too much anymore.

Thanks for sharing. 8)

At this point in time, if anyone is looking for headphones that will serve them well for the rest of their life and provide a most natural sound, Sennheiser HD 600s are it. ~$350 but I have three more Sennheisers that are more expensive, all the way up to their $1500 model, and I almost always have these 600s on my head. Just throwing that out there...

No. And I pretty much do not care about anything Ultrasone. Know to have a way out of whack frequency response. And my main attraction to any headphone is a proper tonality.

I just had sticker shock at the price and a WTF moment at the "Ethiopian sheep leather earpads and head pad"...

Some plain ole skullcandy's work just fine for my half deaf, tinnitus impacted hearing.

There is a rapid, sharp decline of worth/sound ratio after about $400. Then there's a bump at around $1000, then another sharp decline after that.

I've always liked the Grado sound more than the Sennheiser sound. I decided to go (almost) all out a couple months ago and picked up a used set of PS500es. Other than the fact that Grado made a dumb decision to go with a 1/8" plug instead of the 1/4" plug that older Grados came with, I love them, though they don't get the head time they should. Still prefer to use my MDR-V6 because I can just throw them around.

I also had a set of SR325is's, but didn't like the sound that much compared to the PS500e. Must be dem wood cups.
