Hot Wheels Collectors?

I did for about 15 years. I stopped when the First series went to 100:roll: I have a few thousand in storage. Every Treasure Hunt up to 2004. A little over 100 loose RedLines mint, about 40 Pink. 20+ Redline NIP with button mint. Every Snake and Mongoose ever made to date including the tracks. The list goes on and on....And of course I have the Tattooed Series:-P I don't know what I will ever do with them? Sell them as a lot prob one day.

I really don't know why I got so hooked collecting them really. I think it was the hunt. But HotWheels just got ridiculous with the variations, First Editions, Series, ect... When you put out 6 different variations of 1 car and there is a 100 different ones that are just like that it get's impossible to collect them all! It's just a collectors market for them now, that's it.

my dad and uncle both collected until 2 or 3 years ago, my dad has 7000+ hotwheels in the shop under the work table"thumbsup"

Must be a big table:shock: I have a 5ft wide, 10ft long, 10ft tall storage building full top to bottom front to back with my HotWheels and I might have that many NIP. I'm somewhere around 10,000 total but I didn't want to admit it:oops: He must have loose HW's and not NIP.....The largest collection in the world is a little over 15,000 and 8000 are different HW's!

I'm not a very avid collector, but I have a few. Somewhere around 500+ or so. 90% moc. I have some from when I was kid, not bad shape for 30+ years old and played with hard. Did manage to pick up almost all of the Accelracer series cars, only missing a few, at a fair price. So seeing what they go for now makes me feel better. What pisses me off the most is we were buying them for your oldest son Jax at the time and the wife said, " We should be buying two everytime, these are going to be worth something". Man I hate it when she's right. Well long story short, we didn't do that, they ended the series, the ones that we bought for the boy/boys, brother Riley now too, have been worked pretty hard. Good thing I did finally listen to her.

My boys have almost as many HW's, that they play with, as I do in my small collection. Friggin HW's in every room of our 2500sqft. house! HAHA, I do it to myself though, they get one just about every time we go shopping! Damb you HW's! Now there into the new "Battle Force Five" series....will it ever end......nah!!!

Having kids is the greatest thing in the world......also is the best excuse to buy toys for yourself!"thumbsup"

I probably have around 5000 in blisters and around 500 or so lose. I have 9 camping totes filled tight with blisters. when my wife gets home with the camera I will post a couple of cars you guys can drool over.

Hot Wheels

I use to collect Hot Wheels when I was growing up. While I was at College my parents house burned down, and all my collections of HWs, Comic books, and Sports Cards went up in smoke also. That kind of threw off my game of collecting anything, because I had lost so much so quick. When my first child was born back in 2001, I started collecting again for her, that kind of got me to put some aside for myself during the process. I have over 500 in their package stored away. I even went to a store that sells old Toys and found my favorite Police car I had back in 1980 still in its package. Got it just for the memories of my childhood.

HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS.....Never imagined what you guys would have out there.

I have a couple thousand for sure.My whole stairwell is full of cases.Mostly everything from 95 on.All the Treasure hunts till right now.Afew redlines and other stuff..

But you guys are nutz..

I collected from 94' when the Vintage series started thru 06'.I had probably over 1000 cars including a bunch of redlines.I was a member of HWC and RLC a month or so after they were started.A few years ago I satrted getting frustrated with the sites, changes in the admins and policies made me leave. It used to a fun site but it has really changed.I used to do customs but even that side of the site had growing restrictions that had most of the customizers upset. Most of the good ones soon left or just didn't post as much. But I think the real reason I quit was what was happening in the stores.Having witnessed arguments and shoving matches over a car made me leave.Stories of cars taken out of a childs hand while dad looked on the pegs and many more made me leave.I just didn't want to be associated with that.I have sold off almost all my collection except the "surfing" related stuff.Have a few of my customs and my son has a few treasure hunts and thats about it.

This still happens. Us Matchbox collectors call them scalpers.

Have a little over 10,000, most of which are on display in the basement. Probably a few hundred of those are redlines, but none of those are in their original packaging.

would have never guessed. then again you need cars to drive all those clods over!

I started collecting First Editions after my son was born in 1997, I think I have FE's through 2000 but quit collecting because of some of the jerks I ran into. Really soured me to the whole collecting thing. Still have somewhere between 400-500 left. I didn't try to buy everything, mostly what I liked. I have given some away to some of the kids in our club for x-mas and birthdays. My favorite is the Go-Cart. I have the T-hunt and all the Nascar Go-Carts on display in my build room. Probably sell or give away a lot of the common stuff. Keeping the FE's from the year my son was born. I also have the Chevelle T-hunt. Only 1 of 2 I ever found at a store.
