crawlerman
I joined the Band!
At our Iowa crawling meet up, the IFS trucks kept right up. I know that some of you were skeptical, and questioned as to why someone would build an ifs rig, but they did so well it surprised even me. I see so many noobs come on here saying they have an e-maxx and asking if they can turn it into a capable crawler. Most of the time people tell them to 4 link it etc.. Not necessary.
My truck broke 2 slider shafts after 20 minutes, but while it ran I never got stuck anywhere except a couple roll overs. Josh's E-maxx on the other hand threw down some impressive lines. Cole was the first to make a steep climb up some vertical ledges to the top of a 20ft "cliff" so to speek, second truck to ever make it up, and the ONLY shafty, Josh's Maxx. He did this with a rear differential that was clicking and clanking and jerking the truck around the entire way up. He was one of only 3 or 4 people to make another climb through a rocky ravine where the wrong line meant bad crash or broken parts. Cole was suprised to say the least, and there were really only 2 trucks out there that were any more capable than Josh'd E-maxx. I knew that the theory of independent trucks not being as capable would be soon put to rest.... As for anyone else deciding to build a crawler for the first time, dont sway from the independent realm of trucks. Just get creative and you can hang with any trucks, even some stick chassis trucks with a few key mods. Did I mention you get vurtually NO tourque twist? I am urging more people to try an independent design... you may be suprised or even amazed!
