Intake manifolds?

I'm putting together a chevy 350 for my pickup truck, and I am probably going to put an aftermarket intake manifold on it. My question is, I have two options, the edelbrock performer and the weiand action plus, which one should I get? I've used the edelbrock before and liked it, and the price is about the same for the weiand. Anyone here have any actual experience comparing these?

If it helps any, here are some specs:
86 3/4 ton 4x4
4.10 gears
stock heads
stock pistons
some kind of fairly mild RV cam (undecided so far)
TH400 w/stock converter.
Q-jet
2.5" dual exhaust, no cats

Basically looking for usable low to mid range torque and reasonable power. Not probably ever going to spin faster than 4500 RPM.

Thanks in advance

Edelbrock Performer, or my favorite the Performer EPS. I'm a holley guy, and I have to say Edelbrock makes the BEST street intakes.

I'm not going holley because It needs to pass smog, and I'm not trying to spend a ton of money. Plus I actually like the q-jet for a street rig, the spread bore design works well. Just bush the throttle shafts and they're great.

I definately say the Edelbrock over the Weiand.

Although either will be worlds better than the cast iron junker on there now.

Yeah, I run the Edelbrock Performer and love it, my dad also runs the Performer on his El Camino and loves it, the 355 I'm building is going to have the Edelbrock Performer EPS intake on it. I was also decided between the Weiand and Edelbrock when I purchased mine, but I had read some bad stuff about the Weiand and went with the Edelbrock.

both have been at it for many years so i imagine you wouldn't be wrong for getting one or the other.

my dad has an old school weiand on his 65 GTO aka " das goat".
he also has an OG edelbrock on " f@ckin' it up 46 "
his 46 chevy pickup with a 63 vette power plant with dodge straight axles...

both burn rubber in all 4 gears.
as someone above said, pick your price, and either will be better than stock.
"thumbsup"

may we see a pic of your ride ?

what is the truck going to be used as? crawler/mudder/all around.

I'm thinkin to stick a camper on it and go camping. there's not too much mud around here, and if I build a crawler, it'll be something I can see over the hood of:lol:

The price difference is approx. $1. Makes the decision less easy...

I haven't taken any pics yet. Not much to see really, just a bone stock old truck with peeling clear coat. Matter of fact, I've only driven it about 100 yards, it had a nasty rod knock, but I don't think I did too bad for 200 bucks"thumbsup"

I am running a 350 in my 80 Chevy 4x4 and the stock cast intake the aluminum one I had could not take the heat from wheeling and hill climbing.
Aluminum one leaked at the back from warpage.

edelbrock torker is what you want. The performer intake is made mostly for cars, which is where you will be makign power at a higher RPM. The torker is an intake for low end power which is what you want in a truck. I run one in my '83 chevy truck and its great.
