JHTreyIII's Class 1 Build - 1981 Chevy Pickup

Got the white paint done tonight. Next will be rust, color details and then clear coat. After that I'll do the underside and the bed with spray on bed liner. I see the finish line!

The problem I'm having is the rustall test I did a couple days ago came off the styrene when I used a wipe that had cleaner on it (clorox disinfecting wipe I think, for cleaning kitchen counters, etc). I need it to be permanent. I was thinking I could just use some flat over the clear to keep it from being shiny...or just rust it again over the clear and re-apply periodically. What do you know about the sophistcated finishes? Is that permanent like paint?

So I got the tail lights and trim painted last night. I SUCK at painting tiny details by hand. Thank goodness for rust on this one. All the little spots I screwed up can just get rusted. I'll get some pictures uploaded later on today!

I left work a little early today so I had time to get quite a bit done. I painted the underside of the body flat black, sprayed in the bed liner and installed the windshield/windows. This thing really looks good. I also started working on the rust! It looks so good that I can't quite post a picture yet. I need to get the fender flares on and finish the rust. I don't want an almost done shot. Stay tuned! I'll have a photo up this weekend! I may even take it to the comp on Sunday and get a couple action shots!

Well here she is! Still got a few things to do here and there...mirrors, interior, etc. At least I can run her now.

There were monkey's throwing it! Ha, yeah it needs some scratches pretty bad, the paint looks too good for there to be that much rust on it. It will have some battle scars soon enough.

Well we set up a short course for class 1 at our comp this weekend and got some video. I was very impressed by this thing for the first time out. Its a really cool little rig.

Enjoy!
