Kaetwo's Tekin FX-R Review...

Drag brake issues

Ok, i've been fighting this problem for a while. I can't always get my drag brakes to work. I downloaded the latest firmare, used my tekin hotwire to adjust setting etc. I even have the drag brakes and brake strength at 100%. The only way I get the drag brake to work is if I release off the throttle very slowly. If I'm on the throttle and just let go it rolls. So is it me or user error? Radio settings?

I also recalibrated the esc just for good measure.

My setup is a tekin fxr, integy 35t, axial scx10, and Dx3r radio.

Sounds like you have anti-drag/push control turned up. Should be the fourth option if you program without the hotwire.

i really like my fxr. 10000000 times better than the stock axial in the rtc. i am still plaing with the adjustments of everything to get them all to my liking.

just one question is the hotwire worth the money?

Well it's better late then never :D but I finally bought a FXR and a CCBEC, and "wow" this ESC is awesome. I wish I would of got one early on :x I stuck it out with a novak rooster crawler for 2 years, big mistake

Check to make sure your batt is fully charged.
Set the LVC for 3s, for now, not a custom LVC.

You're saying you can not get the hotwire software to work but you could change "neutral width" or "custom LVC"?

People need to be very aware of the owner's manual.
Tekin lists all the adjustments in a confusing way.
Both FX and FXR are shown together. They should have different quick lists.

You can not make FXR or FXR-Pro adjustments manually to;
Neutral Width
Throttle Profiles
or
Custom Voltage Cutoff

Be sure to read the booklet carefully in "quick tune modes" and do not use adjustments for FX series.
Only FXR or FXR-Pro, (the "R" in FXR means reverse).

The person I bought the FXR from made the adjustments with his hot wire,I can not set anything manualy ,It will not take any comands.

I'd like you to hook it up only to the receiver on 3s, without the BEC you're using right now. SO this means to re installl the red wire back into the FXR and try it.

If the FXR was interupted while updating software it might not operate. It can show odd led displays when this happens. IF a factory reset has been done this unit will have to come home for repair.

What is ment when you say factory reset,Did it do it by its self or when thay were doing thire settings.

Section 8 in the manual.
radio on.
plug batt in to ESC.
Switch the esc on , press INC & MODE simultaniusly for three seconds.
Make sure the wheels are free to spin!
The leds ramp up in sets of three.
This is a built in feature of the unit called "self test" , It will restore all the settings (user & radio) to the default (factory) settings.
If all is well the ESC will return to run mode.
Hope it does...
