So I decided my creeper was long overdue for some upgrades and I wanted to go with a bodiless setup to match his big brother, my Dubbed XR. This is a build for my 4yo Daughter Meah, she just loves my truck so I basically handed my old creeper over to her once I started driving my xr, the breakover capability of the xr was way better than my Creeper was setup and I just couldn't see myself going back to it but now that I have found this I think me and my daughter are going to be "sharing" this :lmao:.

In the mean time I started looking into some chassis that are now availible for the shafties and came across KCjones's frogger v2.1, as soon as I saw the design and color options (Meah's favorite color is purple) I knew this was the one for her"thumbsup". The frogger chassis is an awesome design that appears to have a very low cg especially for a bodiless setup imo but it will be another week before I get it:cry:. So it has the looks for her and a design that I can be very happy with performance wise"thumbsup". Thx Casey for getting it out for me so quickly buddy"thumbsup", your workmanship looks absolutly fantastic:mrgreen:.

So with that I decided it was time to give up my beloved creeper tranny/dig setup(enjoy rmd"thumbsup" it never let me down) and go to an axial tranny for ease of installation and being able to fit it on the frogger skid getting rid of the one thing that really pissed me off about the creeper setup......the skid incorperated into the tranny:evil:. I am using my Creeper axles with my ckrc bta kit, got luck cause mine is damn close to zero ackerman, its an older kit and it sounds like they had an issue later in production with these???

Anyways, here is a list of the goods:

Axial locked trans/custom motor mount and stainless output shaft, HR steel gears
vanquish dig
Venom Creeper axles shave as bald as a ...........
CKRC 4linked front batt plate
CKRC BTA setup with hi clearance knuckles(silver ones)

Rover whites c/w ci dd 5.5 foams 2" firm inner and soft front medium rear outers
BWD Vertex alum 2.2 axial offset .75 wide front and rear with custom slug system (5oz)ea side front weight and no added weight rear
Hitec 5955tg servo(getting about 350-360oz)
Castle bec at 6.7v
Castle sv2 esc

Yeah so I ordered up some bwd vertex wheels from Don and I have been emailing him to find out whats going on, just checked my paypal account and I just got refunded cause I'm guessing there is no stock on them now or something.........:evil:where's the communication Don!! I now have to wait a week for the funds to go back onto my visa through paypal and am without wheels. After I calmed down a little I've decided to take the vertex wheels of of my xr which ar ax10/berg offset pair and just found some 10mm wide aluminum hexes that I will use with the berg offsets in the rear making it just a hair skinnier than the front, I'm not a fan of the skinny rear end set, makes offcamber climbs a bitch imo. I am now going to vp's site to see what the hell I'm gonna order for my xr now for wheels. Don has been great in the past with all my purchases and I'm assuming he just is super busy but I would have at least expected some kind of email or something explaining whats going on atleast in the last 2 days.

Edit: well to Don's defence here, he did make a note as to who got the last 2 sets on the paypal refund detials screen, this is weird even paypal hasn't sent me an email that I was issued a refund?????? Just unlucky this time I guess......oh well no harm done really just a little pissed my plan didn't work out is all

i also went to a ax10 trans for ease of maintance and also to handle the power of my HH torquemaster pro. works great so fare. i mean i put it in and with this gaint ass 15oz nimh battery hanging of the rear in some crazed manner, just so i would have more run time and damn i put it on the incline board and it instantly went up 60* so i cant wait to see what it does with my smaller battery on. but ill put it this way, IT IS DEFFINATLY A NESSISERY IF U ARE GOING TO BIULD A TRUE VENOM COMP RIG (note: this is in my opinion, that means no being asertive (RMDW))

don is the owner of MAYHEM ENGINEERING ant he. if so i had that same thing happen to me when i ordered my wheels from him, but my father talked to him and we got it all straigned out. i love his product but customer service ant the best with them but what eve.

Thats right shit does happen, i'm over it for sure and it really wasn't that big of a deal anyways....probably should have kept it to myself lol but sometime we gotta vent. I'm not choked with Don at all just with the situation and my "needs" for this build."thumbsup"

pulled the trigger on the rmdw 4link rear plate and the hr steel gear set......I think i've got it all covered now with the exception of the 101mm bent axial links for the uppers that I gotta buy, I am going to build the out of 5/16 delrin first then change the axial aluminum after I get the lengths sorted"thumbsup"

Got the chassis in from KC_JoNeS and what a nice chassis it is at that, thanks a bunch Casey for getting it to Canada from Hong Kong in 5 days:ror:"thumbsup", awesome customer service too"thumbsup".

I couldn't help myself yesterday when I opened the package there was no way I was gonna just let it sit there stairing at my axles......I had to start on it right after work:twisted:.

Just doing a mock up here to get my upper link lengths sorted and see where the shocks sit with the limiting I had to do, I'm not totally happy with the way the front is sitting atm, little higher than I wanted but I will have to get new big bores to sort this out and this will more than due for now. I want to get the bottom flat part of the skid in the same axis as the lower links so it just fall nicely over stuff without hanging up too bad, it's close but not perfect. I could raise the rear shocks but they are already 10mm longer than 4" so I don't want to go there either, I'm sure it will be ok though. I'm going to try axial black springs on the front and reds on the rear from the axial comp shocks using 25wt oil front and 30wt rear and tune from there. Got the drive shaft angles parallel to the links as well with the upper link setup and made bent rear uppers to get the links as parallel to the ground as possible fronts are just straight lowest position to get them parallel too. Here's some pictures of what I got done yesterday;-)

Any thoughts guys??

Got some more work done on her Saturday night, installed the Sidewinder SV2 on a custom made camo carbon fiber mounting plate on the front links. Installed a spektrum s200 servo for the dig and got the linkage done. Got the wiring all ran for the most part and found a great mounting spot for my rx right on top of the dig servo. Just waiting for my 7980th servo that I ordered for my XR10 to show up then I'll rob the 5955tg thats in the xr now for this build. I have the cc bec setup to 6.6v so I get around 350oz of torque out of the 5955tg, hopefully the spektrum servo can take it:shock:. Added the BWD Vertex wheels, white HB Rovers 1 hole vent in front wheels 2 holes in the rear using a hole puncher and ci foams. Added 2 oz weight into each rear wheel and as you can see in the closeup pic of the wheel the mounting ring up front for the ss vp slugs I have that are being drilled and tapped to 3mm. They are held in from the back side using a flat head m3 x 10mm screw which will make the slugs appear to be floating in there. Each weight is 1oz and I will be using all 5 in each front wheel. Installed the Holmes 45t torque master pro and Just waiting on my skins now and I gotta get the servo and rx in there. Testing vids are coming soon:twisted:

To be honest with you I was running it through my futaba rx on my XR which is good to 8.4v, I know I can run it direct to the steering servo but it is much cleaner running through the rx. I haven't hooked it up to the sr300 rx yet though, is it not rated for more than 6v?. Whats your thoughts there? Thx

RX is good to 9.6v, not too worried about the spektrum servo

Reason I am doing this is cause the heli guys used to run there servos at 6.6v using a123 packs without problem on a number of different brand servo's without any failure.

I wasnt able to get much done today cuz of my foot but when I ship your Creeper Link out Ill send you a complimentary Paradox BEC Jack...one end plugs to the servo and then one end plugs to the BEC and then the single signal wire plugs into your RX..much cleaner and your steering servo gets all the power it should then just reconnect the RED wire form your ESC and have it power the Rx and Dig servo...I bet your glitching stops. Its not the rating of the Rx that is the problem...its the current draw of the Steering servo that can cause glitches when it draws high amps through the Rx.
