Kyosho outlaw rampage pro

Some accessories for the Pro (may fit the new RTR's cage but can't tell) https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4339871

Anyone have any idea when these things are supposed to be back in stock? Saw others waiting since February, not sure if they keep the supply coming or if we’re all STILL waiting. It’s killing me!

There are a few for sale on eBay, either the original RTR, the Pro kit or the new RTR.

In stores it is having a hard time. There was one Pro kit left for months in one of my favorite stores until I bought it, there might not be any more or maybe the latest RTR when things will go back to normal here. Its rear axle makes it look like a toy for some, an outdated truck for others, even an enhanced GrassHopper for a few. That's sad because it's a really fun truck to drive, even when you're not gifted with "fast" trucks like me.

Interesting discovery afa kyosho spurs of the latest generation go : They ALL seem borked.

Got me a Fazer tc with the Camaro ‘69 body ( hey, who dóesn’t like a -sorta- Yenko-striped Camaro) . Yup. Noisy as hell. Snapped-up a late release Axxe for very little. Yup. You guessed it : Screeched like a banshee.

Which sake drunk idjit got his hands at the CAD machines when designing the latest spurs??

Just to test if it’s a recent design-flaw, I robbed the spur out of my Kyosho DB. ( kinda fits, but a tad too small) well.. : No. Noise. Silent as it gets.

So, there You have it. There’s indeed something that went wrong with the latest gears, despite Kyosho keeping mum about it.
Oh, and again a warning : Don’t tighten the slipper too much, especially with a 4-pole BL. You’ll wreck the idler gear pretty quickly. On my 2nd. currently. Ugh!

LOL... mine is still on back order with Tower. They keep pushing it back a month. Oh well... if it happens it happens, if not... no money out of my pocket.

Hey guys, I finally got my outlaw and am swapping the spur for the AE 9653 unit. Is this supposed to be a direct fit or does it need a little bit of drilling? - the center hole is a bit smaller than the stock spur and won't fit the shaft without drilling out a bit. Thanks!

That's the spur I use on mine ... I just enlarged the hole with a 5mm drill bit so it can slip a little, it didn't turn freely like the original but on my first run the clutch was on the loose side and it slipped so I guess that was enough.

Plastic gears, and none metal available.
Plastic gears are fine, it's not supposed to be powered like a Slash.

All plastic, but especially the idler cannot withstand big power. On my third set of gears by now. I finally decided to keep the power very limited with a Robitronic ( = Hobbywing licenced) 3000kv with a fairly loose slipper and the initial power curve at the ESC ( Hbbyking 80 amp waterproof) set reasonably mild. That seems to have done the trick.

Tbh, this whole gear malarky reminded me a tad too much of the ill-fated Kyosho Front wheel drive Maxxum.
At the time it came with a brutal 360PT 550 Long-can, and ate gears like nothing else. Apparently Kyosho stìll hasn’t learned how to make gears for big power...

And yet.. their re re’s are all metal, and I have yet to break one gear set. Even with mad 4000kv motors.. go figure..

Just curious has anyone removed the travel limiters on the front shocks? Kind of confused why they’re there. Why limit travel on a trophy truck? They limit it so much. The chassis is nowhere near the ground at full compression. Kind of worried about blowing a shock. On Pretty much all of my RCs, the chassis will hit before full shock compression.

On mine the limiters are still there, softer tires than original, static at full compression there's about half a cm left before bottoming the chassis ... no need to go let the shock compress further, it'll already hit the ground when landing at speed with the tires flexing.
With kit's aluminum shock, there's no fear of blowing them. With RTR's plastic shocks, I guess they may pop-off on landing once in a while though.

Ahh true, tire flex could allow the chassis to hit. If I'm feeling enthusiastic, I may remove the limiters and test. We'll see.

That's funny... I run my slash and KORP on the same 2s Lipo. I wonder which is faster...

As for the travel yeah it has plenty. Slash will out jump this for sure. This thing isnt really a basher.
