Kyosho rampage pro - no moa!

Nice work! Do you have a part # for those SSD axles? In the end what i'm using will need to go back to its rightful home, but would also rather have something that the sway bar fits a bit better...most axles i've seen so far don't have those "end pieces" (whatever they are called) out far enough for the bar mounts.

It is SSD's diamond back axle for SCX10.1 (part no SSD00069). And yes, that's partly why i swapped axles again - the other chinesium ones didn't have screws on the lockouts.

I was just about to paint the body and was looking for the window stickers when I discovered, that the kit came with another grille - completely forgot about it...

Well, a few minutes later I am in a dilemma. Should I make this my own and choose a different grille? Am I even "a Ford guy"??? Hmmm, that turned into a difficult question.

And then I noticed something else - I always admired the vintage Baja racers and always thought, there should be more. So, while the body was off, I noticed THIS:

Took me three minutes to mock this up. The width and height is great, the spare tires can stick out to your desire and I wouldn't have to learn to weld LOL. Bolted right into the existing body posts and only would need two clamps to secure to the chassis! (Yes, that ass is heavy - that's what she said :lmao:).

The front of the cage would have to go, for it to slide under a bench seat - but heck, that is a good looking desert racer cage! And best of all: That Kyosho spare part is less than 30$! I just ordered a spare one :ror:

Thanks for that. I'm so tempted to get another chassis so I have one to butcher and one to keep stock, esp. after seeing that Insta post.

It’s just a Gmade BOM chassis I head on the shelf.
The body is an Axial C10 painted like Steve McQueen‘s C10 Baja racer.

Oh, and thanks dude :-)

More fiddling. Lockdown here means I can't get hold of materials required to move too far forward, so figured i'd see what I could do with what was on hand.

Found that, if reversed (and yeah i'll lose the 2-speed and will have to lock it in gear) the tranny the whole thing mounts via a couple of the optional rear arm mounting holes and a couple of spacers. Still enough room for a hardpack 2S to get in there. ESC sitting on the servo for now, and bunged the Rx in so it wouldn't fall out.

Yes it's a jury-rigged mess but it works superbly! So much power and torque lift. Now to finish things off...will have to drill final holes in the chassis to relocate the tranny a bit as one of the internal cage mounts is blocked off (would be OK if I had the non-Pro body to use).

Under full droop (and without the sway bar fitted) i'm getting no pinion angle issue...though I haven't sent it off a jump yet

Hopefully we're coming out of our reasonably strict lockdown here tomorrow, so in my typical way I managed to (kinda) finish my No-MOA project at the 11th hour, about ready for a fang

Might pop another truck body on if I can't figure out the inner cage (don't really want to cut anything coz Kyosho parts down here aren't cheap nor plentiful), and the rubbish Trackstar ESC/motor need to be ditched.

I see now what you mean about pinion angle - yes mine is pretty rough at full droop but doesn't fly apart. But will look into either limiting straps or maybe slightly longer top links to find a compromise with the axle angle.

I've ditched the 2-speed idea for the moment and used a bit of scrap plastic to lock it into high ratio.

Such a beast to drive though, with the couple of indoor hoons i've had. Lifts the front wheel beautifully!

Maiden run went well. I have to figure out how to get less tire rub on the cage holding the rear fenders in place and a steering link popped off but that’s about it after bashing it on 3s and a 3900kv Motor.
Couldn’t pull the trigger all the way, the alley is just too narrow for this tail happy pig!
Fun to drive for sure!

Hell yeah man!! Paint work looks sick. The method truck is definitely high on my inspiration for paint schemes.

Btw: i hate to be that one but I kinda wanted to keep this „my“ build thread, so you might want to start your own?

TBH that's a pretty fckd stance in a hobby where people tend to help and provide guidance and inspiration across the board.

But fine, i'll take my build elsewhere so you can bask in your glory.

BTW pinion angle is all fixed now after tuning the length of the top links.

Hold up, no one denied you guidance or inspiration. He simply asked that you not take over his thread with multiple posts and pictures of your build. Start your own build thread if you want to do that.

I'm not taking over the thread, it just makes sense for all ideas to be thrown out there in one thread so that people can gain ideas/inspiration without bouncing all over the place.

But if someone wants to parade and i'm the raincloud, then a) sorry bud, suck it up sunshine; and b) i'll start a new thread.

Note that there was very little to no interaction on this thread for months until myself and a couple started making noises. Sorry for re-kindling interest.

Fxman- Great build! I think you nailed your inspiration truck. Where did you get the decals made?

Hamsterterrorist- Don't take it too personally. When I first looked at this thread, I didn't think of it as a build thread. More of a "Hey look guys, this is cool!" thread. Maybe because its in the General section? Not many build threads here. But now that he says that it is. Just respect his request.

Hey, no sweat - I didn't mean to sound like a dick and I did not want to offend you. Sorry for that. Seriously. Has to be said sometimes also.

It was rather meant as a suggestion to start your own thread, as you are doing something very similar - and I am eager to see how you approach this! It just gets confusing when you browse through this and get the different trucks mixed up, okay?

Thanks dude. Best of all, it does perform brilliantly too - video to follow.

Knowing typography, it is fairly easy to reproduce logos. I did them myself after studying some of the online pics and printed them on adhesive vinyl with an ink printer. Material is slightly too thick, but heck, during these days I take what I have - LOL.
Fun fact - I couldn't help it but the Method letter design AND the 74 looked very familiar. Then the other day at the grocery store I came across it:

I wonder if they collaborated or simply copied their design ...

I love google! Search for: "Draftbeer font" That font looks like a match! The numbers are different though.
