Hi, not sure if it is the right place to ask, sorry if no.

www.stcrc.ca *have anyone heard about them? Are they legit or Scam? - They have a Facebook page, they answer emails super fast, they offered me a 8% discount through email after I enquired about a #demon SG4C - they accept PayPal but when I initialized the transaction I noticed PayPal was to make the payment to a Hotmail account instead of a store account as usual. I immediately cancelled the transaction as I saw it as a red flag.

Anyone in Canada have had any experience with them? Or was I close to be scam?

Another thing is that after a quick search online for the term STCRC throw results that stand for Singapore Turf Riding Centre... And I have heard tons of scams coming from those places.. Anyways thanks

I don't have any experience with them but you need to remember that STCRC also stands for Scale Trucks Canada RC and it isn't likely that they have anything to do with the well-known and very legitimate Singapore horse racing club. The seller would have used an nice, short, web address that was available. Very few sellers would bother to do an online search of an acronym like that. As for Paypal, many selling online have it linked to their personal email address if they don't have a company email account. I would tend to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Do you know if PayPal would refund a paid transaction that is made to a personal email account? Because this will count as a money transfer instead of a purchase payment. Btw thanks for the reply... Just the kit is over $700 so I'm thinking it through..

bbrig - since you're in Indonesia, have you heard of this site?

RCHOBBIESINDO

Rock Crawler Kits

I'm asking because they still list many out-of-production crawlers as "in-stock" and have somewhat unbelievable prices, yet also have new-release crawlers such as the Vaterra Ascender Suburban and the GMade BOM listed...

I don't know if the site is legit or not. I would check with CrossUS (https://crossrc.us/about-us/) as they are the North American importer/dealer. I'm sure they'd know if there was a large reseller in Canada.

Any business though that takes Paypal should be paid as a purchase, period. Never send money as a gift or a transfer. There's little to no recourse for getting a refund that way if something goes wrong.

I hadn't heard of them but looking at their "about us" they are based in Batam. Batam is a duty free port and I have bought some aquarium pumps and wavemakers from Batam at very good prices. The payment method is only by transfer but that's fairly common in Indonesia. My wife sells clothing which she orders and pays the same way. She only hit one scammer out of at least 50 orders. There are no fake RC Crawlers available in Indonesia so if the guy is legit the stuff will be the real deal.

When I get back home in December (out at work right now) I will call them and ask a few questions. If I like the answers I will try ordering a Wraith which I have been considering. At their prices it would be hard to go wrong unless the kit isn't sent. I'll let you know how it goes.

Something doesn't feel right about their site but there's a good chance it's legit.

Their prices seem quite high though, compared to my LHS.

I'd say if the check out with CrossRC as an authorized dealer and the Paypal method is purchase (not friends/family) then it might be worth trying.

X2! Purchase only or you'll lose out if they don't ship product. "thumbsup"

Scam sites all have the same things in common: Questionably low prices (e.g beats out 15% coupon from ebay or other legit source), Really old discontinued models in stock, and always says "Paypal" but when you get into the cart you can only do money wire.

edit:
I noticed PayPal was to make the payment to a Hotmail account instead of a store account as usual

This isn't always a scam, but it is a rather poor business practice using some kind of free email for business matters. Now if they ask for a gift payment then that's different.

Google "RCHOBBIESINDO" and check out what a number of people have to say. I think I posted a warning about these guys a year or more ago as everything I could find about them pointed to this being a total scam. I got excited about what was "available" and their prices but after doing some research, I wouldn't touch this with a 10ft pole. Just sayin' . . . . . . . . .

No experience with them, but The Zoom Room in Newmarket stocks a lot of Cross products - and I believe they could likely order for you if they don't have what you want. I bought my Sawback from them during a Christmas sale a couple years back, as well as various things since then - and they seemed like good guys.

Zoom Room | Radio Control Toys & Hobbies

They have a section for rock crawlers - but I've noticed they have stuff in store that is not posted online.
