I've had one of these babies for almost a decade. I believe I purchased it from a user on here. I received it back in 2017. The previous owner had added in a few nice goodies; MIP drive shafts, bead lock wheels and a bunch of spares.

It came as a roller so I picked up a CC BEC, CC SW2 ? * I honestly can't remember*, a Tekin 45t brushed motor and a Savox servo. I believe I was using a MX-V TX (pictured).

I personally added the Vaterra brass weight set which I painted to look like brakes and Vaterras aluminium components on the axles. I ordered some bumpers and diff covers from SSD.
The pros were looks, for sure! The cons were evident the first time I took it out; they got caught up on every rock.

I also picked up some sweet CodyBoy Designs side steps :)

Back to 2017:

I really enjoyed the truck but I honestly didn't have much time to run it. I had started a new job the year before, my own business was beginning to boom and I was about to get married that summer for a second time.

I was into RC on an off for years after this. I would order stuff and tinker. Upgrade this or that. I moved a bunch of RC's that I didn't see a use for or that I felt I wouldn't use; this was not one of them.

I began a round of upgrades, starting with the electronics. I wasn't racing anymore so I stripped my race rigs and spread the electronics out. The Ascender received an ESC update, and what better to go with that then a sensored BL Motor! Another nice addition was an upgrade on the radio, I now had telemetry for things like motor temp.
With the Codyboy side steps I had to change the battery tray. I put an Element one in there.
I also switched out the servo to a Reefs unit as they seem like the new hotness.

Another thing that always bugged me were the wheels. They seemed too current imo so I picked up a set of Rally's from RC4WD.

After COVID I ordered a bunch of 3D printed parts for my scale rigs; seats, dashboards, inner fenders, etc.
I started trying various sizes of bench seats to see what worked out best. I settled on the seats pictured. Naturally I had to find figures, I started with a driver. When I came across the passenger in a discount bin I had to grab it.

Having it out recently was great!
Obviously I have made a ton of changes so it drove quite different. Good, but different. The weight helps in how it looks and drives. It also, unfortunately, was causing some fender rubbing that I don't recall happening before;
I'll have to do some trimming.
The other thing I noticed is the tendency when I am going down a slope the truck will start to free wheel. That is a new phenomenon with the new setup. Once I was ready for it I could drive it out but it was startling at first.

What else can I say, I love this thing!!!

I still have a new unpainted cab and caged bed for my '72 Chevy K10 to update the beat-to-crap but still-running one I have.

It's my avatar pic...

Even though I bought my Bomber kit first, I drove the Ascender first - took me FOREVER to build the Bomber!

Nice!

I have the '68 F100 body and cage along with the Suburban body.

I plan on doing up the F100 first when I feel like changing the look down the road. I already have metallic green paint for it, just never got around to spraying it.

My crawlin' bud has the Ford, too! - well, technically it's his son's, but he mostly lost interest.
