MaX-D's Wroncho Build

You're welcome. I had to drill pilot holes into the body posts. I used 1/16" drill bits. Measure twice, cut once. LOL!

Yeah for sure. Nothing worse than having a hole just barely off!

Body mounts look great! I like the mounts you designed for the rear of the cab![emoji106]

Here is a tip I learned years ago for making perfect body mount holes. I use a Dremel with a stone cone bit. Slowly push it into the body where you want the hole until you get the size you want. Then just use a hobby knife to remove the little bit of lexan flash around the hole. It makes perfectly round holes every time!

Great tip! My reamers always make oval holes, making me have to do the holes bigger than I need.

I’ve never had luck with body reamers. They seem to always grab to hard and make the holes too big.

There's one thing I've noticed when the truck is actually sitting on its tires, because it's front heavy I lose half of my front shock from the weight. Is this normal? 30wt Losi oil in 100mm Traxxas big bores. Stock gray Wraith Springs. I haven't taken it for its maiden crawl yet. I could move the shock one hole forward on the tower and one hole down if necessary. Heavier oil or Springs?

Thoughts?

If it doesn’t bother you, I’d just leave it. Ever since I relocated my shocks on the TRX4, it squats, but it doesn’t bother me too much. It’s only noticeable when your ground level with it. Picture for reference

If it does bother you, I would start by moving it around on the tower and see if it helps. If that doesn’t help, heavy shock oil should do the trick.

WHO'S YER DADDY!?
John Holmes, that's who!
I'm convinced that John is Santa Claus, and he also included a sucker in the package! Nice touch.

Hey MaX, here are some better pics of the Honcho body. I'm going to add more of these along with how I made the bedsides to my Sport build thread soon.

Thanks Brian. WOW! You're quick! Much appreciated.

Hey, no problem! Luckily I still had these pics in my iCloud!

I liked the look of the black when it was new, but as it got more rock rash, it started to get ugly! I thought about shooting it with some Tamiya flat clear to knock down the glare and hide some of the scratches. I kind a like the dull flat black look I've seen on some other rigs.

Admittedly I didn't read every post in this thread, and I've not built a wroncho but why would a person not bend this chassis to clear the shocks and have the front and back of rails to come to be the same width as an scx frame? To me this seems to make more sence than adding standoffs and spacers. You could also purchase any bumpers out there and bolt them right up. Just wondering if I was missing something.

Where on the chassis would you have bent it?

Seems like that would be a lot of bending in a very small space. I run spacers to clear the frame on my SCX10 based mud truck (flat rails) and have had no issues.

This is encouraging. I'm hoping to get the new motor and ESC in by the end of the weekend and take it out for a crawl on the Rocks here on my homemade crawling course of sorts.

Probably towards the the center in front of the and behind the skid, and then back out at the shock mount.
Honestly, I wouldn't feel confident bending the chassis. Being that it's going to be a slow-speed vehicle, I'm sure I will have no issues with the spacers. If it were a high-speed basher, I might have some issues.
