MaX-D's Wroncho Build

I've always liked vintage looking numbers on vehicles. I wanted a specific number but couldn't find it, so I printed my own. I'm really not digging it, so I started digging thru stacks of sticker sheets. I found a Traxxas sheet from my Slash........PERFECT! (pic 2)

Now you're probably wondering what the significance is of the specific number 823. My older sister Tami passed away on August 23rd 2015 of breast cancer at the age of 51, which is exactly how old I am now. She was my best friend. It's my way of paying homage to her. 823 is the date of her passing.

Looks great Max! Great job on the build![emoji106]

Awesome way to remember your sister! Sorry to hear she passed so young.

Thanks for the link for the light switch. I’ve been looking for a way to turn lights on and off remotely. I’m going to get one on order!

Can’t wait to hear how she performs!

Thank you sir. I'll give a rundown tomorrow on how it does. I'm going to try to get video footage.

This thing can sidehill like nobody's business. I did some sidehilling with this thing that would have sent my trx4 tumbling.

Wide and light. Not surprised :)

This thing looks great. Making me want to scrounge up some ar60s for the Deadbolt I haven’t even taken out of the box yet lol.

Thanks. This thing is surprisingly light. It's more front heavy. It sits lower than my sons Wraith. I has 15mm wheel wideners on it. It is so freaking fun to drive. Much more than my TRX-4. There are certain areas or obstacles that the TRX just can't do. The Wroncho can.
The Wroncho climbs like a goat. [emoji238] It can creep along at a snails pace, but has plenty of wheel speed when needed. I need to turn down the punch a bit. I can't remember the last time I've had this much fun. The sidehilling capabilities is just flat out SICK! It just loves rocks. The Axial Ripsaw R35 tires with stock foam were great! Grabbed everything. Great steering despite the long 13.9" wheelbase. I can't wait to install the underdrive gears.

There is one obstacle that is too narrow for my truck. The Wroncho is just too W I D E! The scalers there were having some difficulty with some of the obstacles, where the Wroncho was able to get past them with some creative driving. What a BLAST! I'm going back next weekend.

The lights are cool, but they help to kill the battery quicker. With the same 2200mah 3s battery I can get 2.5 hrs out of a battery with the TRX-4 Sport, where I got 1.5 hrs in the Wroncho. I kept the lights on the entire second battery pack and only got 1 hr. 2.5 - 3 hrs of driving is good for me. After that, I'm done.

My motor temp was 151° after the first run. It was 80° with 85% humidity.

There were no scratches or scrapes on the skid plate. The RPM rock sliders are fantastic. They slide, er glide over rocks and didn't catch on anything. Mild scrapes on the underside of the axle housings, but thats to be expected.

I really like driving this more than the TRX4. I need to revamp my TRX.

I'm tossing around the idea of a slipper clutch Eliminator on this rig and going back to a plastic spur gear. Is a slipper clutch Eliminator a bad idea?

I only plug my lights in at night, and I never drive it at night, so they are pretty much for show lol.

Yeah I know there are some wroncho/wraith haters because of their ability versus a scaler but as long as you are having fun who cares.

Thanks Phil. Every once in a while they have a Night crawl at my local course. Now that I have lights, I can go , other than that like yourself, they will stay off to preserve battery.

Down here in South Florida, the rock is all Coral. It is super Sharp and just puts a beating on anything that scrapes against it, but tires have no problems grabbing a hold of it. My TRX4 with 1.9s takes a beating on the underside. I have been running Pitbull beserker 4.35 inch tires on it even with the portal axles it's still scraped all to hell. I'm going to throw the canyon trail tires back on give me a little more ground clearance next time.

I don't care about the Wraith/Wroncho haters. Even with bigger 2.2 size tires my local course is still a challenge. It's all about fun for me. I'm really not into the scale thing all that much. There was a guy driving his scaler on Saturday when I was there, and I thought he was going to pick it up and chuck it into a canal. It was just getting hung up on everything, tipping over, etc. Made me love my truck all the more.
One thing that I really liked about my wroncho versus the trx4, no high centering. My TRX4 just will not go over wooden logs. Wroncho, no problem. My son drives an upgraded Wraith, and it was fun to be able to follow him with the wroncho vs not being able to with the TRX 4.

I'm actually thinking about ditching the stock trx4 sport Body for a power wagon with a flatbed and throw some 2.2 Pitbull beserker Braven tires on it which stand at 5.1 in.

I've been dreaming of them temps for the past 3 months!:lmao:

Wroncho looks great MaX! Nice sidehilling! Looks like it would be a blast to drive! I've often thought about building one, but never took the time to gather all of the parts to build one!

I normally do run with my lights on and haven't really noticed too much of a drain on the battery. I usually swap out my battery when the rest of the crew changes theirs. It would be cool do some night runs. I don't normally get the chance to run late in the day. We usually are up early to get to the parks before the crowds show up.

Not too sure how to post short videos. I've only recently learned how to copy links of my videos from my YT channel to post here on RCC.

Some of the guys with their scaler trucks were tripping out when they saw me sidehilling that one line in the picture. I would never be able to do that with the trx4. This was the first time I've ever been able to side Hill like that. It was a lot of fun!

Thanks for the kind words Brian. Originally from Illinois, I don't miss that cold weather and the snow for nothing. I'll take the brutal heat of Summer and an occasional hurricane over that crap any day. [emoji12]

The end of October starts to cool off a bit, but November truly starts the beginning of our crawling season here. November through April the weather here is absolutely beautiful.
I'm like you, I get out to the park early to beat the traffic and crowds. Usually home by lunch. Even in the summer time at 8:30 in the morning, the temperature is in the high 80s with 100% humidity. Have to wear a Camelbak just to be able to drink enough water.

In reference to the videos, I guess I'll have to start and YouTube channel and post links like you do. Now I have to come up with a name for my channel, any ideas? MaX-D R/C? B-FOR823? My son said Sticky Piston R/C because I'm always busting his chops about him using sticky pistons in Minecraft.

Surgery. Underdrive gears are in. Don't worry, I put a lot more grease on the gears than what you see in the third picture.
