I just got mine today, charged it up and tried it out. There is a big increase in torque and the truck is quite a bit faster in the top end. I find I use a lot less throttle to do the same things I did with the stock nimh. Although I have little experience with crawling, it would seem to me that a smaller pinion and this battery would be a good combination allowing for use of more throttle range.

For those people that don't want to do any modding, although sold as a battery for the MRC, it is too long to fit in the stock battery slot. No problem however, the battery slot can be shaved off or the battery can just be attached with a velcro strip or a zip tie and it will sit a bit higher in the front. Simple. The connector for the battery came shorter than the stock, which is also a bit of a problem for mounting it in the rear of the truck. Mine doesn't quite reach.

I have no idea how run times are yet. I used my stock battery for nearly three hours and it only took 450ish mah when I charged it. The Maxamps LiPo has been used for about an hour, hasn't been recharged yet and has no signs of weakness whatsoever.

Would I buy it again? I'm not 100% sure. Unless the truck were to get a lot heavier via mods (I already have 6 trimmed losi chassis weights on each front wheel), it almost has too much power(speed) with this setup. I'm counting on a smaller pinion to balance it all out.

"thumbsup"

So the first charge clocked in at about 1:45 min. It got noticably weaker pretty quick. I enjoyed it today much more than yesterday, just took some getting used to the touchy throttle. All in all a well spent $40

Let us know how it does after you fully charge it and run it again. The battery will get better with use. It will be interesting to see how it does after a couple of charges.

Hey Guys, I'm getting back into RC after about 15 year hiatis...I have read lots about batteries...and this one confused me. You said that you only ran for 1 min 45 sec before the battery dump (old term, don't know if its still used). How long did it charge for?? and are you saying that Lipos start lasting longer the more you use them..so like the first time they last for 1 min 45 sec..the next time they last for 3 min, then your up to 6 min??? that doesn't make sense..but they are different than the NiCad I am use to. What is typicaly the run time with a 2000mA battery with a crawler..yes I know it depends on the motor. When I was in RC my 1200mA would last in my car 4 min 20 sec...just long enough for a modified 4WD buggy race.

thanks for the info

Run times on these are more like hours. The LiPo was probably 1 hour and 45 minutes on run time. NiHms and LiPos kinda have a 'break in' period. After a couple couple charges they work better. So after a couple charges the LiPo should last as long as the stocker. Oh yea, no memory like the NiCds. The electronic and battery tech has improved beyond belief from the old days. I did some local racing with the original Associated 10T's like 13 years ago and I'm still surprised at the newer stuff.
