I just got mine today, charged it up and tried it out. There is a big increase in torque and the truck is quite a bit faster in the top end. I find I use a lot less throttle to do the same things I did with the stock nimh. Although I have little experience with crawling, it would seem to me that a smaller pinion and this battery would be a good combination allowing for use of more throttle range.
For those people that don't want to do any modding, although sold as a battery for the MRC, it is too long to fit in the stock battery slot. No problem however, the battery slot can be shaved off or the battery can just be attached with a velcro strip or a zip tie and it will sit a bit higher in the front. Simple. The connector for the battery came shorter than the stock, which is also a bit of a problem for mounting it in the rear of the truck. Mine doesn't quite reach.
I have no idea how run times are yet. I used my stock battery for nearly three hours and it only took 450ish mah when I charged it. The Maxamps LiPo has been used for about an hour, hasn't been recharged yet and has no signs of weakness whatsoever.
Would I buy it again? I'm not 100% sure. Unless the truck were to get a lot heavier via mods (I already have 6 trimmed losi chassis weights on each front wheel), it almost has too much power(speed) with this setup. I'm counting on a smaller pinion to balance it all out.
