motor and esc for a xl kit

First off let me start off by saying I am new to the RC world and am about to buy a Yeti XL kit. I am considering three motors and esc's. 1. Mamba monster 1/8 2200kv. 2. Tekin TT2325 2250kv with the RX8. 3. Novak Activ8 2200kv with the V2/HD8 esc. (The Novak is not releasing until March.) With that said I plan on running 4s batteries and like the Mamba and Novak versions because the esc's are sealed. I really want the Tekin but I would have to be careful to keep it dry. What I am hoping for is feedback from other would be XL kit builders/owners to chime in on what they plan on installing. Im also interested in hearing about servo considerations.

The Vanguard 2200kv set up with the RTR is good however if I had to choose I'd run the CC MM2 due to the adjustable BEC with the 1515 2200kv motor which is the same as the RTR just a better ESC IMO."thumbsup"

Can the BEC on the MM2 deliver enough current to support a high torque servo (like a Hitec HSB 9380TH) without an external BEC? Thanks

You will need a external BEC regardless of the ESC you use. The Tekin RX8 will support 7.4v I believe but it's still recommended to run an external BEC.

sanny that 1900kv is a buggy motor...recommend a truggy or 4038 style from tekin .... I actually purchased the 4038 motor in 1700kv and plan to run double 5s lipos...."thumbsup"

Cafeful, I just got blasted for suggesting this ESC a few days ago lol.

Seems folks on this forum have made their mind up and will not try Hobbywing.

Up until a year ago I was a Castle fanboy and I had a reason. Because they work great. I was a little tight last year and tried a Hobbywing Xerun 150a and all I can say is wow! It blew me away with its powerful internal BEC and smooth powerband on even sensorless motors. I had to fine tune my Mamba Monster 2 to run without cogging, but the Xerun 150 worked great right out of the box. Ran cooler too!

Only time will tell if the Hobbywing stuff will hold up long term, but for now I am planning to install the motor combo below in my Axial Yeti XL kit.
