My Berg Rebuild # ?

Thought I would update this build.

With the new W.B. rule I had to do a pretty big overhaul on this rig.
I was at 3 7/8 G.C. with a W.B. that stretched out past 13 inches.
So I shortened it up and had to go way short to keep it from growing Past 12.5.I would say if I kept 4 inches of G.C. the truck was about 11.75 dropped out. After driving it this way I hated it.

So I had to make a compromise between G.C. and Wheelbase in order to have a truck that I could get along with and be at a ETRC Point Series event yesterday.
So I limited my shocks and settled on a 3.5 Belly clearance with 12.125 inches of wheel base dropped out.Under normal driving conditions the truck is at about 12 3/8 on wheelbase and when digging it does not go past 12.5.
I may go with some shorter shocks and softer springs. After limiting the shocks it preloaded the Losi White springs more than I am use to making the truck feel a little stiff.

The comp I had to attend was a indoor event. The last time I was there I had 1 climb that my Panther tires did not like.I had a feeling that this climb would be there again this time so I got me a set of Rovers to try.
I would like to thank Sddill for getting them for me earlier in the week and cutting the sipes deeper and having them ready for me when I showed up.
I mounted them once I got to the comp.I used a set of VP DH wheels up front and a set of VP SLW 1 inch wide wheels out back. After the first 3 courses I decided to switch the rears to a set of VP 1.35 SLW's.I really like the Narrower track width the wider wheel gives you and I like how it flattens out the contact patch and supports the sidewall.
My first few courses where a big learning experience trying to get use to the new rig and tires. But I was getting it by the 4th course and when it come to finals I had it down and made a jump from 4th to 1st
I think I am going to give the Rovers a little time and see if they will grow on me and until I can get my hands on a set of Sedonas to try.But the Panthers will stay mounted and ready to go .:)

I would also like to give a big thanks to Steve with Wheel Works for hooking me up with some new Stainless Lower links yesterday. At the last comp I traced my links out and he made me a new set that were straight and were the correct length for me to bend like I wanted them.
After the new W.B. rule they were a little long but that allowed me to trim them to length. thanks Steve"thumbsup"

Any ways enough talk here are some crappy pics.

Looks good Joe."thumbsup"

It was a good time yesterday at Brian's,but I'm more than ready to get back outside on some big rock.8)

Looks good Joe. Glad to see you got it figured out. I have been working on the same thing with mine and it definitely takes some getting used to.

Do I see strait:shock:

Joe B with ROVER'S!!! Truck's looking good teach.

Haha....that's what I was thinking as well!

I had to bite the bullet for one climb and just to have a consistent tire for the comp place.
The indoor we run at has pretty dusty rock.I could start a course with my Panthers with way more traction than the Rover but they would pick up a ton of dust and loose traction about half way through the course.
After watching the Rovers they stayed cleaner through a run.I decided at this place it may be better to have a little less traction in order to keep it more consistent from start to finish.

It is for sure a learning curve.
I just made a compromise on G.C. and W.B. I am very curious to see how everyone gets this worked out.

me to I think it sucks.

the Vanquish MOA looks like the ticket 12.4 WB @ 3.25 GC Killer:twisted:

Tom has Lighting in his pockets. Every time he comes out with something new

!!!BAM!!!!

So i got a question on what spacers you are using on your vanquish wheels.

DH pro comp 10 5/8

SLW VP 10.125

I'm looking for some new wheels and that is about where my CAC wheels put me now, but he isnt making them anymore.

haha, nevermind. i found it.

335 i the front and 350's in the rear.I also have some SLW for the rear with 225's if the course call for a narrower rear .

I am running .225 in the rear of this truck with a 1.35 wide wheel.

Boy this tuck just keeps getting the Job done.
I know it has had several rebuilds but still the same Chassis design just different material, same axles with some new shafts, same shocks, hell even the same Lipo that I have run from the start of 08.
In the last 3 weeks I have had a 3rd at a ALRC comp at LRC and yesterday a 1st at a ETRC event against the same guys that beat me at LRC.The comp spot was new to me so I just went with what I know. I bolted the Panthers back on and went with it.:)
This truck just flat works.
I did however drive several rigs after the comp that worked very well also maybe even better than mine or it could have been the everything new works great once thing. I may have have to play around with some of these new creations.Only bad thing is I will have to retire my trusty old lipo because it want fit.:)
