My Class 1 SCX10 build

Thanks, I'll definitely look into that. I do have the clockable axial chubs on there which helps - the pinion angle is better than stock for sure, even with the lift kit. I haven't had time to do anything with the truck since last week. I think it's going to get new bearings and some more scale accessories soon though "thumbsup"

Well, I got the truck all cleaned up and installed new bearings in all lockouts and knuckles (all were totally frozen). Strangely there was no sign of water ever reaching the ring or pinion when I opened the axles up.

Regarding the driveshaft issues, I think it may have been caused by my integy 35t which had a totally shot comm and was acting quite jerky at full throttle. As you can see from the pic below, the pinion angle is actually better than a stock scx10 due to the use of axial clockable knuckles. I picked up a brand new tekin HD 35t from a buddy so we're all good to go "thumbsup"

Stay tuned for some sweet scaled out pics...

I figured out the cause of the loosening drive shaft: a shot lower link axial rod end. Apparently the rod end stretched, probably due to cyclic loading and some tumbles, and would no longer hold the ball tightly. This cause the whole front axle to rotate slightly under load which would eventually vibrate out the screw that mates the CVD with the drive shaft. Traxxas revo rod ends going in soon "thumbsup"

A few updates: the rig has been driving great and the new steering is awesome!

Got a junfac driveshaft set. I only installed the front since I'm going to use the rear for the front driveshaft in my 9.5" wheelbase Amigo build :)

Also got the electronics all tidied up and made a LCG battery mount tray with some scrap plastic and industrial strength velcro. I used the velcro to attach the winch controller and esc as well. I also changed to an RC4WD controller to stop the super annoying drift that is caused by the spektrum/heyok combo. (Heyok works perfectly with flysky though)

Here's a night shot I took last week with my buddy to celebrate the addition of headlights to his Chevy. "thumbsup"

How to you like the 1.55's?

Sorry bud, I somehow missed your post before today. I love the growlers on the utes - they let the bronco hang with most class 2 rigs.

u should throw some 1.9's on there and go class 2!

Lol - I'll just steal the swampers off the brodozer next time we hit stoneridge :flipoff:

BTW, you need to start a brodozer thread now

A minor update: de-cased the rc4wd winch controller and sprayed a few coats of plastidip on it for water proofing. Now all the electronics (except the ESC) are in the receiver box! Going to do the same to the BEC as well...

The bronco is getting tail lights soon - finally!

The RC4WD TF2 turn signal lenses are just about the perfect size ( tail lights were too big for the HPI body). Did a few coats front and back with the x-27 clear red Tamiya lens paint.

Looking good sir, the devil is in the details. Maybe I skimmed over it but how do you like the growlers? Just got a set of 1.9's for my c2 but haven't had a chance to test...

Thank you sir! I love the growlers, in fact, I just ordered a set of the aforementioned 1.9's for my C2 (which I haven't started building yet )

When this set wears out I'll probably change to... a new set of growlers!

You gotta make a trip down to SLO at some point and bring the clanker with you "thumbsup" The crawlin' here is awesome!

Made some progress on the taillights...

Lenses installed - started the holes with a body reamer, shaped with an xacto and finished with sand paper

LknHdDWl.png

Glued axial light buckets directly to the body with CA glue (probably going to carefully removed them later with a hobby knife and plastidip them in for a more secure and finished look)

Needed 45ohms in series with red LEDs so I soldered 4 180ohm resistors in parallel

Next I wired everything up for connecting to the headlights and mini deans that runs off the receiver - left one extra wire tinned and ready to go for when I add a roof rack light bar :)

Temporarily taped the wires in place and soldered the connections

Plugged in everything and tested it out!

I have been liking the 1.9 growlers, had them out a couple times yet though.

That slo trip sounds enticing. I'm sure uncle Clanker will be up for it.

Just a brief update - I installed the rear Junfac driveshaft since the CV joint didn't like the steep angle of the short wheelbase Amigo front axle.

I also wanted to show the de-cased RC4WD winch controller plasti-sprayed.

Thirdly, I replaced the 3ch Spektrum receiver with a 4ch Futaba R2004GF since I found a great deal on a 4PL here on the forums "thumbsup" Ch4 will plug into a heyok light controller eventually. Of course I justified this by deciding to gift the DX3E setup with a winch controller and winch to my Dad for Xmas

The trusty bronco made an appearance at the ORVA scale nationals this last weekend "thumbsup" I had planned to take my C1 Amigo but it was not ready in time. The bronco did just fine with no breakage or issues otherwise. My driving was just so so, but the rig doesn't have enough scale points to be competitive (26 of the 60 possible points). Regardless, I had fun and finished all the courses resulting in 21st place of 36 drivers.
