New Axial "working on something fast"

Maybe everyone is interpreting the ".. working on something fast" too literally. Maybe Axial means that they have a project that is 'fast tracked', not a lot of time to get it together and out the door.

I like the fact that other people are starting to want some narrower width AR60 axles. I've been bitching about this for a while.

Exactly my thoughts... fast does not have to mean "Go Fast"
They may have a deadline on time. Wondered when soneone might see it this way..

Yes, great way to look at it from different angle! "thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup"

The problem with the current "teaser" marketing strategy, is you either give the public a little bit more, or you end up with speculation, probably in the wrong direction of what they want, and the product does not live up to expectations. Axial is doing a piss poor job of setting our expectations.

At best, you end up with a luke-warm reception from your customer base, lose some of the pissed off ones, and hopefully replace them if the product being released has a wider appeal. At worst, the early adopters like myself, who actually buy this stuff new, pre-order, etc... and have money burning a hole in our pockets, end up spending that cash on something else--like motorcycle gear. I just got back into rc and am ready for another break. :flipoff:

Exactly! I hate that a lot of major companies have resorted to teaser marketing. You should never tease anything that is more than 30 days from hitting store shelves in most cases.

Yep. Because people get high hopes of one thing and expect something spectacular. And with Axials last few "new" trucks have been all but spectacular.

I think they need to get their marketing/product planning house in order.

In a way, they are at the mercy of some production/quality issues with suppliers from China. While some may see that I am speculating here, it is based on what other manufacturers have announced and have subsequently delayed their release, and it is a heck of a lot more educated than some of the ideas thrown around here.

Case 1, ECX with their whole line of 4WD vehicles. It was only supposed to be 30 days out before the full line of 4WD were supposed to be delayed, finally, they have their 4WD SCT out, but at least a full month delayed.

Case 2, ARRMA with their 1/8th scale truggy/buggy. Still no news as to when it will come out; Tower has gone from June, now to Mid July.

Shoot, even the clone makers/sellers are running out of stock. (Exceed, Redcat, HSP, Himoto, etc)

So what does this have to do with Axial marketing and product planning? I think that no one has a freaking clue as to when they can get product out on the shelves, and the marketing department really can't go through the proper channels to build up enough demand for the new product. At the same time, they (Axial) feel that they can't pump up the older platform (SCX10) CR Edition, Deadbolt, too much for fear of advance pull-through (people spending their money now on the older kits), which would result in a less than ideal sales for their new product release. Didn't it seem like those kits (bodies and stickers to be honest) just came out of nowhere?

You are right, they wanted something fast, so they threw a different body on the same truck and called it a new product. It probably took longer to design the box!

If they would wait to tease a product until the first production was finished, and QC checked, that would give them 30 days or so the get the product on the boat and out to their distributors. No pushed deadlines, no BS.

The one you seek with all the answers goes by the user name badger... I will not confirm nor deny anything, just sayin

Hypothetically speaking, I wonder if anyone might just say or allude to, when maybe possibly perhaps such a vehicle might theoretically hit the market? Just sayin'.

That's not how it works. Teasing a product doesn't have to come with a delivery date, in fact, a lot of companies do this same thing and it builds anticipation. Just because someone announces they are working on something doesn't mean they are obligated to provide you with an exact date or even a guess as to when it'll be available.

You know what I'd really like to see?
Some U.S. based manufacturer competition.
Given what I've seen come out of Pro-Line in the past year I'd LOVE to see an IFS/SA 2.2 rig from them...

I know it's not really their market but look at the up and coming SCB class... throw an Ultra4 style class in the mix.
