New Losi "Comp Claw" review - Axial Midwest Indoor.

I've been runnin' the Comp Claws for about a week or so....

My 2 cents, for what its worth"thumbsup"

Specs:
Total rig weight 7lbs 2ozs
Fronts 13.5ozs ea.
Rears 10 ozs ea.

First off, like what's been said already... Stock foams WAY SOFT:-(
For a starting point I set-up the stock memory foams. The tires hooked well, but wadded under load, and rolled under on the slightest sidehills. On a 57 degree day too.

Next up NWTT all weather Reaches.
Much better;-), tires still wadding a little on steep climbs/undercuts. Side hilling is still sub-par as well.

So I decided to stuff the f*ck out of em'
Put in HB Rover foams with a 1/4" thick, 2'' wide strip of low density foam wrapped around the outside.

BOOYA"thumbsup" The Comp Claws like it Hard:shock::lol:

After firming up these tires, they've come ALIVE !!

The siped lugs really help hold a line.

All in all another good tire to add to your arsenal.
I like the 5.2" height. After running Rovers and Chisels, I feel the extra 1/4'' of GC isn't worth the 1/4'' rise in my COG;-)

Switching from Rovers, I have'nt noticed the lower GC at all"thumbsup"
Plus my rig feels more "planted" in steep ascents/descents & sidehills.

I'm gonna try some Crwler1 Memorys in various flavors as soon as the weather warms up.
Results to come"thumbsup"

Nice pics, but please don't say they are like Panthers, lol. :ror:

I am more excited to run them on my current Berg build now. I like many (Tanis) could care less about tire height. I don't want to modify my entire vehicle to be able to run 5.5" tires. I love the Claws cause they are a little taller, better design, and I do not need to change my vehicle to run them. I will be more interested to run them on a Berg now as most of the Berg guys run the HB and Chisels, etc....

NEVER!

I only said they have forward bite LIKE panthers. They do side hill well with little tuning. Regardless, IMO8), with the right foam set-up, Panthers are still the tires to beat"thumbsup"

After playing around all spring with Rovers, Chisels, & C.Claws, I will probably go back to what feels the best to me, Cougs"thumbsup"

He he, Ford Vs. Chevy thing for me. Never have owned Cat tires and will never, lol. Love the Claws.

(disclaimer - I know they are great tires "thumbsup")

Has anybody testet them with more and less weight, yet? How do they perform better?
Mine are on their way, so I am also looking for some harder foams... can you recommend some? Crawlr1 foams seem to be good, but shipping to germany... expensive

I've heard some are using prolines 2 stage oversize foams , i'm going to try these as well , i also have a set on the way.
NF.

yeah, the 2 stage oversize look good. let me know when you have tried them!
all the foams i have are a lot too small to fit in the claws...

ive got mine stuffed with a new set of 5.5x3" Aced Donuts. i don't run anything else. i just got the losi comp claws today and only have about 10min on them. they're pretty stiff right now but they'll soften up a little over time. the aces are not quite as dense as the stock foam, but being so much larger they fill them out well.

Another comp under the belt and these tires are getting even better! I think they are finally borken in. I don't think it took too long to get the best performance out of them but the are awesome now. I was making Berg lines with the Ol shafty yesterday and was very impressed.

Guys, the NWTT Hybrid reaches fill these tires out perfectly. They ran great and had great sidewall stability as well. Stock Carver foams in the rears still. I am not changing a thing for these tires setup wise.

I didn't get any pics cause I can't while driving but Todd (Rogue) did. Hope he doesn't mind me borrowing them. ;-)
