New OCM 2.2 Crawler Review

NO Grins but I have horns (basically a smaller version)
Looking at the chassis you will have to drill another hole. No biggy there.
But of course I'd suggest upgrading to the whole Bull chassis w/ new links.;-)

Continue to check in as I will be updating the original post over the next few weeks, as I hope to complete this rig. I will probably bump this thread a few times in reference to check in on the original post. To me, it is just kinda annoying to look through multiple pages of a build to see all the updates, so I plan to include all changes made in the original post so all progress is easy to see.
Up 'til now, the plan was to build the truck as it was intended from the factory, and see how it performed from there. Obviously, with a couple of items, I didn't bother and just instantly changed them up as I felt they needed to be, and were free to change. As of now, the truck is built with all factory included parts except two weird little thingies. I may have to actually look at the manual tomorrow to see what they are supposed to be, because I honestly don't know.:shock:
Now since I will have to wait a couple of weeks for electronics and such to come in (and get my 'hoes to work harder so I can afford them) ....................I will probably do a bit of playing with the rig since it will bother me that it is just sitting there. So really, when done, there will probably be quite a few changes from factory condition, but I will make an honest attempt to keep them all simple and cheap. I really want to create a "this kit + this very little amount of money/time = great crawler" thread. My plan for the weekend is to play around with chassis extensions, rear axle clocking, rear knuckle/lockout flipping, maybe go get/prep a body, maybe experiment with "maxx sized" shocks, and a couple of other cheap mods.

What is your impression of the shocks? Specifically, how long are they, how's the construction? Again, thanks for the write up. Also, if these axles are a hit, I vote for this to be it's section's official first sticky.
Oops, forgot about the shocks. Added the info to original post.
Speaking of the shocks, they are probably too long to work with unless run as droop, which may work just fine. I rigged up a couple of "test plates" for placement reasons this afternoon, and with shocks mounted here, they seem to be at a smooth point with little angle..................but still way too much articulation. But then again, it is easier to limit too much than try to create more. Going to work on creating a permanent way of mounting like this."thumbsup"
Got a couple of motors and a ESC on order, so with a little luck, this thing may run next weekend.
Nice looking solution for shock placement."thumbsup"I think you could trim that down some and come out really nice...maybe just an 1/8th or so above the holes and dropped in the center of the chassis. Looks like an SW2 from here...but I'm blind in the left eye so take it with a grain of salt;-)

It is not distributed by amainhobbies.com. amain just got one of the first shipments in the US. OCM has a US office located in Alabama. I know the gentleman running OCM US and am familiar with OCM products.
OCM is manufactured somewhere in the Pacific Rim. OCM is a relatively new company to RC but is slowly making their mark in the racing community. Parts availability from the racing end was a little slow in the very beginning but they now have a reasonable supply chain in place.
With the "Newage" line or crawler, I would imagine that for the next several weeks or so, parts availability will be spotty. I am assured that parts are in transit and shoould be arriving even this week. As sales of this product ramp-up, I expect there will be a few "hick-ups" but nothing more than what we have seen with Axial.
As with any new product, time will tell volumes about it. My guess is that the Newage will be one of the hot products this year.

Just like everything else. Really, take a look around your house and see how much stuff was made in America. Family members and pets don't count.
I have stated the fact that my rig was missing a part to Alan Burton of OCM America...........and he has stated that he has passed my request to the factory, with a request that I receive the item this week. Today is Monday, and I will update on how this part replacement request works out.
Today I noticed that both ocmracing.com and ocmamerica.com are both up and running, but also noticed that neither mention the crawler on their sites. IMO, the crawler release was a wagon that lead the horse...............and was just a tad early. With that said, and from what I have researched about OCM, and what can be read about on their sites................OCM is starting to come of age. Small and young for now, but [for now] I have confidence that they will grow and be supportive as needed.
