Novak Crawler Review/ Tech thread

does thing have some decent speed in it? I can get at towerhobbies for like 205 shipped. :)

It is at least 30% to 40% faster with a 12 tooth than my buddys 55 turn with a 14 tooth and same spur.

The torque is off the chart. Plan on running a slipper clutch or replacing axle parts every time you run it.

really fast i run it in my tlt with ped trans with a 16 and its still got power to spear when crawling halls *** to! And it will almost flip over going down withe the break set to where it is stock, hold my crawler whever i put it i might have to turn it down though a little to strong,.

thihnk its fast enough to get mud/water flying everywhere so it looks like a real truck in mud?

Does the motor hot enough to need ventilation, or could I run it sealed up?. I wouldn't want to kill a $100 motor by getting it all wet and muddy.

I don't think the sensors on the motor like anything dirty.

As for what I have notice their is not much heat coming off the motor. The ECS is another story. It builds heat just setting there.

As far as speed goes, I drag raced Eee Pee with our Hi-Lifts, mine with the Crawler and his with the silver can motor. Dead heat. But I had more torque and twice as much runtime.

the sensor don't like ANYTHING! If you get a drop of water in the endbell it wigs out. It hasn't hurt anything on mine the few times I got it wet but it needs to be cleaned before it works properly.

Kris and I have run ours in our rock racers and in a couple of scaler trucks in the snow and even with the motor "bagged" it still gets moisture in the motor and freaks out the sensor.

How about the crawler motor and GTB esc?

I have a 6,5R Velociti/GTB system in my closet, and could use that esc if it's ok...?

Just ordered my first high-lift... :)

Has anyone had an issue where the ECS lost it programing?

Every once and a while it will lose all brakes and reverse and after I turn it off, unplug the battery, and turn it back on will work ok for a while. It's almost like it needs a reboot.

Or am I just the luckiest person to every buy this set up?

Well i finally installed my upgraded verion, after driving the system as it comes from Novak for almost a month i was getting frustrated when i needed the hi lift to hold it's position, now after installing the revised version and:shock: it's amazing, i have awesome braking capability and my rig will also hold it's position, what a difference:) , i'am loving my crawler system, it works awesome"thumbsup"
Thanks again to Charlie at Novak and all the people that helped out, they stand behind their products and they have a faithful customer in me from know on:) ( though i already owned a couple systems from them from before).
