Panther Cougars

Just got back from a quick test of the new Cougars. They're mounted on a brand new set of Mayhem Spiders. Right now I only have 2.2 oz of weight in the wheels but I'm running a 6 cell sub c pack right on the axles so there is plenty of weight down low. Stock foams as well.

Took the rig out of the car drove about 30 feet and snapped a rear axle :shock:. Not to be deterred, I continued on in 3wd (This was a lunchtime crawl so I never took any spare axles with me!)

Even with only power to three wheels these things were pretty impressive. I've been running the Rock Claws since last summer and I will admit that these seem to have an edge. With the stock foam, they conform to the rock pretty good and I did find that the sidewalls were quite grippy - even in the absence of lugs (Actually, the Claws don't have much of a side lug either.) The extra height was a nice bonus as well.

I found the sidehilling to be as good - if not better - than the Claws - evnthough the tire deformed quite a bit. The tires almost flatten themselves providing a flat, wide and low contact patch.

I only wish I could've tried them with all four wheels working :-(. That will be later today!!

Its the same as any other tire.

It was fatigued! I never even really made it to the rocks before it broke :roll::roll:

Its a Wheely King axle and I can make ones that are stronger than stock - so it's no biggie!

I agree, it is "thumbsup" Time to make a beefier set of axles - and some spares, too!!

well just ordered a set of soft with memory foam to go on the new set of spiders im going to order right now. man i hope these can beat my badlands those seem to be unstopable but we will see and one here go from badlands what do you think.

well i think i got a solution to help with the sidehilling, just run the red kreepy crawlies or some kind of stiffer foam, the red dots or stock soft look pliable enough to still conform with stiffer foams, makes sense to me, stiffer tires have to have a softer foam , to conform easier, when it conforms the tire and foam have to flex together so both put out pressure on the roks so with the softer tire wont require as much pressure to make flex so you can run a stiffer foam to balence it out, plus it might help with any kind of role over or under for sidehilling, does this make sense to anyone else, if it does am i even halfway right or im i just in lala land ? any way thanks for the info answering my last post.

WHATEVER!!!! Everybody knows that grip comes 100% from having lugs, rubber is very slick without lugs...........

i got mine in the mail today... threw them on some axial beadlocks with no weight. almost, and i mean almost doing all the lines my badlands did, and i run alot of weight in my badlands! i'm gonna add some weight and see how they compare..
