Randy,

We haven't had the pleasure of meeting in person yet but if we ever do, I'm gonna hug those god damn spelling errors right out of that pretty mouth of yours. :lmao: I think I got what you're saying here though and I appreciate the compliment. "thumbsup" Looking forward to seeing you get yours up and running in some comps again.

I've met him and he seems normal enough...

If there is going to be a hardknockz/vanilla samich......
I've got first dibs to be the meat in between yo buns!!!!!!!

Steve can be the cheese or lettuce or supplemental samich topping of his choice.

Once we are all together..... The mayo will make itself:lmao::lmao:

On a technical note... Where is the always evolving shock setup sitting at now?

I'm still wanting to go back to a big bore, but now I am eyeballing the rcbros egressor shock bodies.

You sick lil' Utard you! I love it.:lmao:

Tech alert.....

Front shocks-
40 wt oil
Axial machined piston
Losi Mini T silver springs
3rd hole back from the front of the chassis

Rear shocks-
45 wt oil
Axial machined piston
Losi MRC silver springs
3rd hole in from the rear of the chassis

I won't use the big bores anymore. I've tried and tried with those things and I just can't get them to work for me. I will probably get the Egressor bodies in the near future.

Got a couple of things in the mail today.

First is my new skins that Mike @ Wicked Monkey Designs did for me. I wanted simple with just a few logos on there and these came out great. I have two sets, one for practice and another for comps which is perfect seeing how the cement boulders near me tend to eat up skins pretty quickly. Thanks again Mike, you do great work!"thumbsup"

Second thing that came was a set of Shift hubs from BC-Brian. With the new CF wheels, the biggest set of VP hubs I had was 725's (because god damn J.D can't seem to find the post office in Tehachape :flipoff:) so my rear width was barely @ 10". That's a little narrower than I wanted so I got the Shift hubs to see how that would work. I had to add two of the bigger plastic spacers on each wheel to get to a little over 10 1/4" side to side. It doesn't seem like much but it should help a little with stability and catching a few side obstacles for climbs. Packaging and shipping from Brian were great."thumbsup"

While changing out the hubs I noticed a big crack in both the front and rear right wheels. It doesn't seem to be affecting things now but I'm sure it will at the worst possible time. I've been looking at a few sets of wheels so I will probably pull the trigger on a couple of them soon. I need new tires anyways so that is a good excuse to change these out.

I recently cracked my wheels too... I was being dumb and loving the wheelspeed mine had so I jumped if off the porch and it landed on the pavement on the side of the wheel... cracked it right through... Contacted Tomy and he got me hooked up again... Send him a PM and he'll help you out "thumbsup"

Hmmmm. I'm loving my old school ghetto ass YTC solid discs. Spooky stuff you got there Sweetness.

J
I hear ya. I was always a little worried about the durability of the CF wheels but I do like the look and weight of them so we'll keep trying. I is scary, I know!:flipoff:

Thank you for the tip, I will contact Tomy and see if he can help me out."thumbsup"

Got the new skins on from Wicked Monkey Designs and I really like the look of them. Thanks again Mike!"thumbsup" And yes I know I'm missing a screw in one of the wheels.;-)

Looking good man. I notice you just use one zip tie on the rear of the hood. JD asked me not to include hole marks in his newest set. Just wondering if that is something I should stop putting on or not. I'd assume that most people are competent enough to make their own but you never know. Maybe I'll put up a poll...

Thank you sir! "thumbsup" I wouldn't ever assume that anyone is competent enough to do anything on their own....have you seen some of the shit posted in here??:lmao:

Having said that, I would leave off the hole marks on the hood and roof panels but the side panels do help. "thumbsup"

I may just start leaving them off the hood and roof then. Thanks man.

Glad you are liking the Shifts man, the Rig is looking good. Happy to hear they are getting your rig in shape. Sounds like you have a few more spacers, you could go CRAZY and put your rear axle at 10.5 inches. "thumbsup"

Thanks Brian. The shift hubs are great, quality, flexibility and packaging are top notch! "thumbsup"

I might go wild this weekend and throw in that extra spacer to see how it works....don't wanna go to crazy here though.:ror:

After a 6 month break from running any comps, I was finally able to make it out to the recent West Coast Crawlers third comp of the season this past Sunday. It was fun getting back out on the rocks and driving again but I wasn't expecting much. Turns out the break did some good and I managed to get the win over some talented drivers in the club.

I did make a couple of changes before the comp (out of necessity) and they actually really helped with the overall performance of the rig. The chassis performed great and the extra ground clearance that the Smash provides came in handy a few times."thumbsup"

First thing I had to do was put back on my old drilled out SLW rims because I blew out three of the four Carbon Fiber wheels the week before while practicing. I liked the lightness of the CF rims but I never really trusted the strength of them. Thankfully they blew out in practice and not at the comp so I went to the old reliables. This bumped my weight from 3.7 lbs. to just over 4 lbs but the added weight actually helped with the feel and drivability. It was very planted all day and felt good and smooth while driving.

The second change was widening up the front and rear wheel width. Went from 10.5" to 10.75" up front and 10.25" to 10.5" in the rear. It doesn't sound like a lot but the stability of the rig seemed to greatly improve just from the extra .25" all around. Here's a few pics of the current setup but unfortunately, no pics or video from the comp.
