Pham's VP Axial SCX-10 JK Jeep Wrangler Unlmited Rubicon - Unlimited Budget Project

hi Pham, I checked your part list, but wondering what rear axle shaft are you running with? the front is vanquish vvd heavy duty shaft, and what about the rear axle shaft? I am running both the stock axle shaft and been wanting to upgrade to the vanquish axles shafts, then I realized the rear axle shaft should be straight and seems there is no straight vp axle shaft, please shed some light on this and thanks in advance.

Over the last few years I have found the stock Axial steel rear shafts work the best over others I have used. Vp currently doesn't make any kind of rear shafts but doesn't mean they might. So in this build the rear shafts are just the good old stock ones.

Truck looks good my man... Holy lights lol...

I love lights :)

This is the rig your gunna run at the upcoming GSRCC event? can't wait to see this thing in person!!

No sir I will not, This thing is gonna just stay a shelf queen / slight trail runner (when I finally decide to do that). I'll bring it to the next GSRCC event to show it off :)

New pictures will be coming since there are a couple new parts on it since the last time I posted any pics.

Wow that is an amazing rig... I was wondering, how much of the original axial jeep is left at this point? Body, frame rails, rocker rails...?

Thank you , you got most of that right. Here's the list of original parts : Jeep Body, Frame Rail, RX Box, Skid Plate, Some Bearings, Body Posts, Rockers, Battery tray (modified), Rear Swing out carrier, tires, rear cross member. A few parts but a lot of it is gone that was original to the rtr form.

Hahaha. I totally understand, I took it very easy with my kit after it was first put together. Not sure I would ever wanna use a rig I put that much time and money into in a comp. maybe a light trail run like you said, a very clean and wide trail:lmao: running or not it will still be cool to see this thing in person.

Hi Mike,

Could please elaborate why you went with 475 & 600 VP hubs?

Is 475 and 600 equivalent to 12mm and 15mm, respectively?

Thank you.

I know that with 600 all the way around on my Curries that the rear looks just a tick narrower than the front. But I will measure it to verify my suspicions lol

I don't know the exact dimension differences between the 475 and 600 hubs but I can tell you why I bought what it did.

The 600 are for the 4 tires and one of the 475 is for the spare tire :) I went with the 475 because it fits a lot better on the stock spare tire mount. I did the same with my Honcho. Hopefully this is good answer for you.

With 600 all around the front and rear should be the same width.

Thanks for your responses. I was planning on going with the 600's. I just wanted to be sure of the size/ width.

I was looking for at least 13mm wide.

Does VP sell single wheels for a spare? I was going to call them, but if anyone knows it would be helpful.

Thanks.

Ty, after all of the hours on it I was such a fun build that I don't want to do it again lol

Your welcome, I think 600 was a best all around width for crawling and looks. I hate it when 1.9 have some crazy offset where the wheels stick out too far. Depending which wheels you buy the OMF beadlock wheels are sold individually by parts so you can pick and choose your color, but slw, new methods wheels, and the xd wheels all comes in pairs at the time being. I'm not sure if VP will offer single wheels on the ones that comes only in pairs (I could ask if you would like)
