I scored a bad case of cabin fever this last weekend, and was not happy with how my Rubi build was looking on 1.9's, and I've had the G Wagon body laying aound for about a year, so here's what happened. Nothing fancy, just a quick (12hrs so far) simple build.........
(First build thread so go easy :-P)

Chassis: MFM
Tranny: Pede w/Integy 55T
TLT Axles
B4 front shocks (for now)
Body: Nikko G55

I kept everything as simple as I could. I basically kept the suspension the same as was set up for the Jeep, just shortened the links 1/2" front and rear. I had to do some adding to the holes to get the links to let the axles sit right.....

I had the winch already mounted for the jeep, so I decided to put it back in, and run with it. I added the battery mounts on the rear section, RC10 battery cups held on with extra TLT servo mounts (as is the winch servo)

When I was thinking of how to mount the body, I wanted to try to use the original screw holes/mounts from the Nikko chassis. It actually lined up perfect. I used some scrap aluminum angle I had around, and started fab'n

I used an extra shock mount as a template to get adjustment holes in the mounts so I would be able to play with adjusting the body up or down....

I played with it for a bit and got it as close to looking where I wanted it to be, without looking like it had a 6" body lift, but yet the tires don't beat up the wheelwells when the suspension compresses.

Took off the covered spare tire, and mocked up another idea......

So far I am happy with how everything turned out, I will be maybe swapping out the B4 shocks for a better looking scale set. "Flex" is about a 1/2" or so so it's about right, the shocks bottom out just before the tires rub the wells. I tossed in some odd electronics and test drove it and I actually am very happy with how it drives, and is not one bit top heavy.

Now that the base rig is done I've been pondering the details. I kicked around tossing these in it...

But with as dark as the windows are, I think I am going to just glue some up out of styrene or foam, and save these for a tuber build later on. I will be adding wheelwells, roof rack/ lightbar w/LED's. I am going to keep the headlights in it, and possibly a exo (waiting for a reply from Beckworks on it).................

Updates to come "thumbsup"

Thanks guys! Here's what I've been thinking for a exo.......

Either way I'm still planning to go the idea to do a rear and roof rack. The body mounts are actually really sturdy for as crude as they are. I've rolled it pretty hard off the couch and loveseat, and everything is still square..........

I rolled mine pretty bad the other day too-very stout body. I vaguely remember when mine looked so nice...
good build.

sweet build jay. cant wait to run our scalers this spring I'm getting the urge to run the highlift this coming weekend with the 2.2 moabs on it and run the 1.9's when we run in spring.

I've been busy last couple of days (even though my winter workbench sits about 6' from my office desk ) Right now I am starting the body work. Should have some by the weekend "thumbsup"

That exo is going to be beautiful, i have always been a fan of exo tube work like that. I hope you go with it as that would be really neat to see. :)

Here are a few updates. I got the grill, bumpers and stuff sprayed.

Mod'd the front bumper with the lights and winch.

A couple of closer shots of the lights and winch. I don't have the winch screwed on yet so it's a bit crooked "thumbsup"

I'm hoping to get at the snorkle and start the interior maybe tonight yet. I picked up all the stock for the roof rack, and should be able to start cranking on that this week also.
