Well, I recieved my set on Friday. They look awesome. These are the soft compound and all I can say is they nailed the compound. These are the softest tires I have seen. Remember that these were design for scale look before comps. With that in mind...

I was heading to a comp this weekend so I threw them on my 2.2 Clod. They are mounted on a set of Visionary Fab "Stalkers" that are Zero offset and 1" width.

First off, I checked the foams...I felt that they may be perfect for the clod weight and figured I will run them whole. Next, I just hated to drill holes in the wheels so I opted not to.

They mounted perfectly. The bead has a nice deep groove and excess to seat in the wheel. They are not moving. With the deep groove it gives a nice "recessed" finish to the wheel/tire combo.

Height was perfect for my 2.2 Clod. I have been struggling to get a tire for this rig.

One thing I did notice with these is they flex real well. Only thing is when the compress they create a "flat" surface. This may cause "spinning" instead of grabbing.

Off to the comp.

First mistake was taking the rig out of the bag and placing it on the pit table. It was like bees to honey..."are those the...no it can't be", "do you want to sell them?", "by the end of the day they will be mine".

It's Rusty's turn (My 2.2 Clod)...Mind you that this is a Trials Course...I will be testing on rocks this week.

I was off to a perfect run until I came to an inclined piece 4x4 of PVC. This was where I ran into a problem. There was no way I was getting over it. At first I thought it was my approach but the problem was that there were no "edges" to grab hold of the obstacle. It may have done better with air hole in them...and I will try that.

I have to say overall these tires are a step above the "scale" tires out there. For me to get as far as I did going up steep inclines, crossing tube bridges, etc., they far exceeded my expectations.

The key now will be to test them on rocks and then add air holes and see the differences.

These tires are recognizable just by the looks. These IMO are the best looking scale tires out there. I original bought them for a project that I am working on that is not done...they will be ending up there.

I will keep you posted...

I hear ya on the crowd-pulling ability  I brought one of my test shots (hard compound) to the NOSTR indoor crawl on Saturday, and everyone there had to handle it. The consensus was that they'd buy 'em even if they were hard as hockey pucks. Hua really nailed the look with this one.

I'm surprised the soft compound wouldn't grip the PVC pipe, though. With a huge contact patch and a smooth surface, it should latch right onto it.

I think we're gonna see a lot more of these things...

:O I agree those tires could be made out of rock and I'd still buy em. They look awesome. Exactly like the krawlers on my real rig. :D

What's awesome though, just like the 1:1 tires, there is a ton of meat on them to groove them however you want  ... new idea..fully groovable tires..come with blank lugs.

In any case on these you can make your own lugs "thumbsup"

I was able to get out a little to test them in the elements.

First I ran them how they were set up for yesterdays comp...air tight. They seem to like that as long as you don't mind the bouncing. They compressed nice when approaching a rock and seem to grip.

Next test was to get rid of the air. I cut a small notch in the inside sidewall of each wheel. This made a huge difference in flex.

Crawling on this pile was about the same accept when it came to needing edges to "grab" onto. The latter format worked better.

Now came the mud and wet. They lost all traction at that time. It seemed that as soon as they got wet they became slicks. This is no surprise due to the huge flat surface that these tires have. Add mud to the equation and you weren't climbing the easiest of rocks.

It comes down to my first post...these are Scaler tires. They are the best looking tires I have seen. They will perform in "ideal" conditions but as soon as it gets just a little questionable they will not work.

This is the same as 1:1 tires...you cannot have it all...that is why there are so many options.

Now the question becomes, would I buy a set...definitely...for a scaler. Would I depend on them for winning a comp...probably not. I will wait for the Crazy Crawlers to make that call.

well that sucks. I was really looking into getting a set:-(

Why does that suck, seems to me that they will make a great scaler tire? Not so much of a trail basher tire, but a good crawler tire. We will see when I get mine on my truck and go from there. Each truck is different...

I second that one...I am going to put them on my SW3 here soon and check it out. May be a different outcome.

I know a couple people yesterday stated about cutting up the lugs for some traction...

They have a huge potential...

I was thinking about having to cut them. It's their soft compound why wouldn't they perform well. You guys are right, every truck is different, how much weight you use, & holes in the wheels. The bfg krawlers work great on 1:1 crawlers. The rock crushers should have somekind of potential. They are I guess I will wait for more opinions.

One of the TSC guys ran a set of ground-down Stompers in the soft compound at Saturday's comp, cut the lugs down to about half height and used Kreepy foams; this really seemed to be the ticket for making them work. This was on an indoor course, so no water or mud; the Crushers would probably respond the same way.

With a huge contact patch like that, it's a "dry" tire for sure. But they look so good, I'll run my test shots. They actually performed pretty well in the limited testing time I had with 'em.

Reconfiguring my comp rig now for bigger tires. I really don't need 4 inches under the skidplate

I believe that was stIck kIng from W.Pa.C. He was showing them to me yesterday...Interesting.

I want to reiterate that this is just one rig with these tires on one application. These tires proved themselves on the trials and dry rock. The key will be to keep them dry and clean.

From what I hear the 1:1 Krawlrs are not too good in mud either...now that is scale..."thumbsup"

how about just siping them across the tread like i do with my 1:1 rigs tires......that should make the tread blocks grab like lil'figers
