how about just siping them across the tread like i do with my 1:1 rigs tires

That is what i was wondering. or grooving them more. I just ordered a set for my Comp rig because we compete on slick rock and there is usually plenty of traction and I figured with the large contact patch they would hook up perfectly. After seeing the video I was completely bummed. So much for paying to rush them!

Grooving and sipping should work unless the compound is just not that soft or sticky from the begining.

Do you feel the "SOFT" compound could work for comp rigs with the right setup (grooving or sipping)? I like the extra ground clearance especially since i am going to run droop. i will sit at 2.5" with the new tires on.

I am going to say "YES"...this compound is the softest I have ever felt. I just ran it with my SW3...Uploading pics as I type. Big difference.

Good that is a relief I just posted mine for sale on the local board but if they are going to be half decent i am going to pull my for sale post. Thanks for the heads up!

Alright now...I threw them on the SW3 for a test...what a difference. There is something to say about matching your rig with your tires. They acted completely different.

I'm running 3 oz in the front wheels and nothing in the back.

On the SW3 I also have an extra 2 oz on each axle side plus an 8 cell 2/3A pack on the front upper links.

First test was to run the same lines as the 2.2 Clod. What a difference. The key to running these tires is to go slow...let the tires work. Once you spinning, you are done. The tires, with the extra weight, will conform better to the terrain. Now remember, these are not a comp tire the way they are...I like the idea of scoring them...it would make a huge difference to the large surfaces of the lugs.

nice love the rig man! it was just like mine before i went to tube. SW3 and grappler is where it is at.

your still running foams with the vent holes in the sidewalls at this point correct?

man you are on top of things i expected to not see the video for a day or two. Looks much better. I am rounding up tools as week speak to groove the larger blocks. Mine should be here tomorrow, and then i have the comp Saturday. I will post a video as well for everyone.

Just got mine today, these are worth it!!! These look like they will perform amazing. They are the best looking tires I have ever seen, They might need a little siping but nothing durastic. This is an awesome compound to, better than I expected it to be.

A little tread shaving for the match the BFG Krawlers better, and I think they will be a great tire! We will see as I just picked up my set today!!

Different wheels to make a wider stance and they would be perfect. Also, cutting the foams a little bit wouldn't hurt...

Ever so slightly. The VF Stalkers only have a 1/4" from front of wheel to face of hex. Placing a Rockstar, Axial or Rocksolid would make a world of difference on this rig. I have the CVD hexes doubled up so that helped. If you were just running stock CVD Hexs with this wheel setup they would be dragging.

WOW I mounted mine up last night and just like it was said in this post they are soft soft and seem to bite and pull harder than I thought or at least more than what my Moab M3 seem to be doing. I only tested on my rock garden in my basement so that isnt saying much for now. The big test wil be on Saturday on the steep rocky shelf that we compete on. Video and pics to come comparing these to the Moab M3 and Losi out on the rocks in a comp atmosphere.

So far I cut half of every other lug in the middle lugs in the rear so when i climb it doesnt bite too hard or as hard as the front and pull me back over the front is pretty cut up every other row is lowered to about half tread and the stock foams are cut around about 1/4" and slightly channeled in the middle. Huge differece I have less spinning and they seem to be biting really hard now.

I just love the look more than anything so I really am hoping these will do just as well as the Moab M3. I refuse to jump on the losi band wagon because i like being different but if these dont hook up it might come down to losis I hate it when my buddy losis just walks up stuff that I sit and spin out on with the moabs and it is costing me points in the comps.

As far as ground clearance and CG I cant tell a huge diffence. If still feels way stable on side hills and the lines that I once got hung up on are not an issue or are much easier to break over so i feel the extra 1/2" of GC & higher CG are well worth the sacrifice.
