RC4WD's HIGH Shipping Prices ???

First, I want to start out saying that I am so glad that RC4WD is in the business of making some of the coolest and most unique RC trucks and accessories in the world.
I have had very good service from them, including very fast order response and shipping.
They have also reacted very quickly to rectify any mistakes in orders I have received from them.

So this thread is not meant to bash them in any way or take away anything from the awesome products they bring to the RC truck market.

My only confusion is about their shipping charges.

Can anyone explain why RC4WD's shipping prices are astronomically high?

I have ordered a ton of stuff from them but every time it irks me about the shipping costs.

I mean a less than one pound bubble envelope is $20.00
If I sent the same package it would cost around $5.00
On some orders I've had a small box of parts cost $50.00 for shipping!!!
I could send the same size box "Priority Mail" for about $11.00
I can see adding a little for handling but not three to five times the cost of the shipping!
It really just makes me crazy!
Am I doing something wrong?

I always hated paying them $8 for shipping then getting the package and it cost them less then $6 to ship it. I don't think their site is setup to get price quotes from the shipping companies at check out so it's off a bit or just a set amount. A few dollars is no big deal really since your usually getting something you can't get anywhere else but I would rather keep they money in my pocket if at all possible. I haven't ordered from them in a while but their rates never seemed as extreme as what your saying.

Yea, it's almost like it goes buy the dollar amount you purchase. Most of their stuff is light in weight, so it cant be based on weight. I wouldn't mind $8 at all, I'm serious, I've paid $45 and $50 shipping for a small box equal in size to a medium flat rate box (priority Mail) that cost like $11 to ship, any weight. (up to 70lbs.)

That's crazy was it next day or sat delivery?

No! they only offer UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail and the Priority Mail is always only a dollar or two more so I always choose that.
I will say the package gets shipped and at my door very quickly but that's Priority Mail so it should be.

As far as shipping goes, it's like getting ass raped with a cactus. Do a search about the shipping, your not the only one. I go out of my way to get their stuff from anyone BUT them, if I can. People say "contact them, they will take care of you", no kidding, for what they charge it's like you just bought two of what ever it was so the least they can do is send you the second one. My opinion. :flipoff:

You might want to contact them next time it happens. They are pretty reasonable guys.

Yea, and you can't really contact them and tell them how much to charge for shipping. I think they are looking to make extra income from their shipping, I mean surely they must know it's that high. I know they must have a pretty big shipping staff but that is part of their overhead, don't pass along your payroll to your customers!

I think someone said they are trying to sway people to use their other vendors, I don't know. It just feels like a slap in the face after just spending a small fortune with them.

I e-mailed them about it and basically got "try finding it somewhere else" I think that translates to "**** yourself and shop somewhere else". I hate everything about rc4wd, I wish someone else would take over their niche in the rc market.

wow im new to the rc world again... and i like rc4wd stuff.. am looking to get stuff in the future.. but not if i buy a full $500 truck.. u guys make me think im gonna pay $248 in shipping!!!!!!!!!!!

I kinda annoyed by their shipping right now as well. Last week my XR10 chewed up the gears in the front axle (my fault, forgot to loc-tight the screw that goes into the VP link mount), so I ordered a set of their gears. I wanted the parts here by today so I could run the truck in a comp this weekend, so I paid extra for shipping; they are being shipped from San Jose to Washington State, so I figured two or three days, max. Tracking has my parts leaving San Jose on Monday and arriving in Honolulu on Wednesday  , that that is where they have stayed... Glad I paid extra for them to sit on the beach... "thumbsup"

Perhaps someone who is a lot more familiar with USPS can tell me why they were sent to Hawaii...

I always used RC4WD as a reference. Find what I need, copy part # or model # then Google the part. As mentioned in a previous post check RPP 99% they will have it in stock, and most of the smaller stuff ships free.

I don't think that bad.

I ordered over $700.00 worth of small (lightweight) stuff and it was $50.00 shipping (Priority mail)

Maybe someone will chime in on how much a big truck kit or rtr costs in shipping.
On something larger like that I would expect to pay a little higher rate but not crazy high.

My aggravation is paying $50.00 shipping on lightweight small boxes that USPS (priority Mail) only charges around $10 - $15 to ship.

Yes, I know this hobby is "luxury Items" but that doesn't mean they should hit you over the head for buying it!

This example is the post office's mistake, which is still upsetting but not RC4WD's falt.

Order your RC4WD goods from RPP..

If they would ever send a restock shipment to Cory, I would! I just spent $11 for shipping on a set of Bruiser style leaf spring hangers and it's gonna take a week to get to me. And there won't be any box art!

I've noticed RC4WD uses their own boxes but they could save money by getting them free from USPS.
I know the US Post Office will send you free Priority Mail boxes and no charge to send them either.

Its because they hug it and kiss it and tell it a night-night story before they put it in the dark and scary box.

I don't care to pay just a wee bit more than actual shipping costs. It still takes time and man power to process the order, gather the parts up, recheck to make sure things are right, print the label, finish the paperwork, and tape the box shut. Doesn't sound like much, but they still have to pay someone to do it.

Now if it is a ridiculously high amount, that is a different story....
