Okay, so after exhausting myself looking through the forum, I am hoping this might help myself and some other new guys with building/mounting rock lights. These look great, but I can't justify the price when LEDs are a few pennies. http://www.maddogrc.com/MDRC031.php

I want to see how you all mounted rock lights to your rig. I am thinking of getting the little light buckets and using appropriately sized LEDs and just wiring it all from scrap wires to the stock Rx in the Powerwagon. But I'd like some other ideas and if you know a product that works please share a link. Also, which is the better port on the Rx, Batt or CH3?

Thanks

I run a pair of cheap LED light pods from ebay directly off a 2nd 3s lipo. Super cheap and work great. They light up the whole underside with just 2

Nope. I just leave them in the pods and use some indoor outdoor adhesive to secure them. The pods are water resistant which is a plus too.

I ordered the light buckets that are from Vaterra off Amazon. They come with the bucket, chrome reflector, clear lens and LEDs with controller (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B844DKK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Not too bad for $18 when I can't get a hold of any parts tree light buckets from anyone around me. Plan on mounting them in the wheel wells facing outboard then likely adding one above each drive shaft. I'll post pics when it happens and I chose these to make a more scale appearance. If there isn't enough light then I'll be looking for more options. Thanks for those who gave input, a lot of your choices seem to work better for the purpose (bright light).

I installed my rock lights. I used these lights from Vaterra: Amazon.com: Vaterra 340000 Light Set with Buckets: Glamis Uno: Toys & Games

I drilled straight into the little mounting tab and ran a screw through the gear head lift/droop bracket into the light. I haven't cleaned all the wiring up yet, but sure works for what it needs to. I can't help but laugh how the front lights project the image of a butt crack.

You can get led Strips on ebay in a big roll for pretty cheap. Just search for SMD led. Trim them to size and solder on some wires and your good to go

Those look awesome mounted on the shock towers, i might have to pick some up.

Yeah they are a little bigger than I was expecting, but at least their light output is useful and it looks more scale than using some automotive interior decoration.

I still need to illuminate the sides under the rocker panels, so I am searching for something similar to what you speak of. I have new rocker guards on the way which will allow for some different choices for options.
