I would like to start this build thread off by saying thank you to all of you guys for putting out the info that has gotten me to this point. That being said here is where I am at right now:

Mayhem high torque metal gear servo
CC BEC
HB Rover Whites
Upgraded drive pins(broke both of them just clowning on the carpet in the house.)
Bent links (Props to Jahred) *might have misspelled his name....
20 degree axle clock front and rear
shock to axle (fabbed the mounts myselfAfter looking at Jackalopes setup "thumbsup")
ZNO rear steer lockout
ZNO narrowbody stage II /Bullseye chassis
Disregard the wire on the front axle it is still in testing and I am playing with how much weight I wanna load on the Front axle. I am open to all feedback here guys.

Bent uppers and lowers. I am still tweaking the mounting locations for the links and shocks. I will be ordering new shocks next weekend, any suggestions???

Bent linkage for clearance.

This is the ugly wire pic heh... Disregard. I have played with some "race cars" autocross racing and I have always believed unsprung weight is the bane of efficiency so I am tryin' to avoid weight on the tires I want axle stack weight. You guys chime in here and let me know if there is a difference in RC vs. 1:1.. I would appreciate it. I think it was FATBOY that kept helping me with these front shock mounts and I want to go on record saying he was right and his insight is appreciated."thumbsup" BTW are thes Rovers mounted backwards???

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

Alright, Now you see where I am at. I want to try something different. I am gonna attempt to do a G1 type hybrid with the bullseye chassis. I love Rock buggies... so I will update with pics and prolly a ton of questions to folks like FATBOY who have the wicked tube skillsets. I am looking and it seems like if I skin a tubee over the bullseye I may be able to pull it off.
Just to preface this I AM NOT BUILDING A SCALER! I want a tube look with my MOA Redcat so this disclaimer is for the Scaler Purists.

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

so which shocks do you guys recommend? And which wt. shock lubricant?

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

check out djmedic2008 youtube channel and the uses these intergy shocks they look great and seem to flex well to

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

Them be some nice lookin shock mounts ya got there!! Are they aluminium?

I have no insights on what shocks to use, cuz My stockers suit me just fine. But I use similar shock mounts with a similar shock angle (Layed out like a lounge lizard), and I'm running 50wt oil with good results.

Not that there's anything wrong with it, but, why are your upper links bent so much? was there a clearance issue? or was it just to shorten them up a bit?

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

bent upper links help clear the chassis under hi flex and help clock the axial and shorten them

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

Yeah, helps clock axles and I like the looks. Also to clear the stand offs. I'll show a pic of what I mean. not too big of a deal. I may even make some custom uppers to maximize the flex of the bullseye setup. Masamichi had his uppers bent like mad when he was running the bullseye as well."thumbsup"And yeah I definitely looked at your rig for inspiration on the shock mounts. They are aluminium. I found a piece of aluminium angle at Home Depot for like 5 bucks at the same time I was buying the rods for the bent links. Thanks for the input. My shock s have blown the ball joint out the metal mounts on two shocks. The guy at the local hobby shop says its because of the angle, and to push the upper mounts away from the chassis more. (I don't know how much he really knows) also I bought some 65 wt oils to keep her nice and slooowwwww. I havent quite figured out how to actually replace the oil yet. I pulled the caps but didnt wanna screw up the internals trying to pull them apart.

X2 And for shocks get some traxxas bigbores for the rear end of rustler smooth as silk

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

Thanks Jess, I'll look into those. I started a seperate thread so I can get more opinions.

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

I think I just found my plan for the tuber body!!! This is made for a mini, but I think I can upscale it!!

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

nice mate for decals like mother and red bull monster buy a can and cut them to size

My shock s have blown the ball joint out the metal mounts on two shocks. The guy at the local hobby shop says its because of the angle, and to push the upper mounts away from the chassis more. (I don't know how much he really knows)

I had that happening too. most of the time I found if I just spun them around on the mount, the force was applied to the integral side and stayed in place. But yes, that little retainer thingy is a P.I.T.A.

If your just changing oil, when you take the cap off, turn em upside down and give em a few pumps to get out the last bit at the end. Then when filling, give em another couple pumps when they are half full to get the air out. Then it will take you a couple times to find the sweet spot between full to the TOP, and full just below where the cap sits in it. It's not hard, just tedious.

If you want to take the shocks right apart, just grab the shaft with some smooth jaw pliers (Don't score this!) and unthread the plastic ball joint on the end. then they will pull right through the shock body. I don't think you really evn need to open the lower cap unless you want to inspect the 2 o-rings.

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

Right on! Thanks for the help guys. I appreciate it. I just got Cairn to blueprint that tuber body with it overlaid on the Bullseye chassis. I think we are onto sumthin here. I am slow but it WILL come to be. THANKS CAIRN!!!!!

Re: ROMAD's "Ground Pounder" build thread

The "Tuber Body" construction is underway and going Very well! I think I may mount it semi-permanently to the bullseye and not take it on and off like a plastic body. This way I can integrate the on off switch into the setup and will still have access to the shocks and links and battery. I spent $22 and got a brake line bender, line cutter ans 6 feet of 3/16th brake line at Napa! This brake line is very manageable and seems pretty sturdy. Pics to come. I don't have a welder so JB weld is my answer and I will let ya'll know how it works out. I really don't doubt the JB welds strenght. I have used it lots of times before and will be amazed if I break it. I just hope I can sand it down and make the frame look clean prior to paint and skin.
