SCX10 Honcho mods

For over a year I had a lot of trouble with RC4WD XR4 radio. It was not stable, lost calibration etc. Then I ordered RadioLink RC3S. Only $40 with extra receiver. Really cheap compared to $99 XR4.
Plastic feels cheap but it works much better. Had no problems in several months. This transmitter can take up 4S LiPo. I am using it with 1500 mAh 2S LiPo. Battery lasts forever. Charged it only once, still running.

3rd channel is rotator, 4th channel is 2 position button.
First I thought about replacing rotator with 3 position switch for winch. Was not sure rotator can be used with winch because it will be hard to center it every time. Turns out HeyOK controller is not very sensitive. Need ~1/4 turn to trigger winch.

Display is OK. Does not require lot of time to figure out navigation and settings. Plus some features like battery voltage and bars showing amount of throttle and steering applied.

Comes with bunch of holders, cases and adaptors. Car holder is not included(
Compact and light weight, but still a bit heavy for 1/10 scale rig. Installed it on the roof rack. Makes rig easy to roll.

Here is the video from first test drive

<iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Z3NzaLFYq0M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The only disappointment for now is synchronization with smartphone. Camera can be connected via WiFi so you can see everything on phone display, start/stop record, download and share. Video is transmitted with lag. No first person driving :x

Going to GTG this Sunday. Will shoot some action video.
