There is a REALLY nasty virus out there called "Security Tool", that pretty much takes over your computer. It puts a screen on your desktop that says your computer is infected and puts up pop-ups about every 10 seconds about threats on your computer. This virus occupies the center of the desktop and anything that is opened comes up behind it, meaning you can't get to the Task Manager. It wants you to buy its 'protection' to get ridof the screen.

I have gone through a couple of websites and followed their direction for removing it:
Safe Mode - Turn off the program in the Task Manager
Normal Mode - Delete all program files, clean out the registry.
Ran MalwareBytes, updated the OS and virus protection.

This fixed worked for 4 days, but now the bastard is back, anyone know of a fix to get rid of this bastard other than wiping out the HD and reinstalling the OS (Win XP)?
Luckily this hit my sister's computer and not mine, but as the family IT department, it is my bitch to deal with...

Thanks.

What software do they want you to buy?

The one I just had to get rid of on a friends computer was "AntiVirus Soft" virus. The 2 main areas to pick that virus up is myspace and FB...

Look at what software they are selling, then you can google it for a better description on how to kill it..

Here is the Antivirus soft - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-antivirus-soft

you have no idea but when it happens its so ovious like when you go to you programs and try to delete the software a pop up come up and you have to close out of that and then it keeps going and going. Iv had to re boot my computer at least 5 or 6 times because of things like that
