Today I briskly shuffled my way into 2007 and bought a smartphone (AT&T Fusion2). Question is: is it possible to set it so that it will only connect to the net via wifi and keep me from having to worry about data charges and whatnot?

There should be a data switcher in Google play. It'll turn your data off from a toggle set on your home page

Figured it out...didn't know I had to manually set up the wifi connection.

Thank you sir. "thumbsup"

I've got a 3g off app for my GS2, works great for times I don't want to use mobile data. I try to keep the 4g turned off too, it's kinda spotty and screws with 3g for me.

I too got my first smartphone this year. Don't know if this apples to all phones and service's. But I have to havd data turned on to send a pic through a text, as well as recive one.

Unless you are surfing the net and get tons of email with attachments, you shouldn't have to worry about going over the base 2GB data plans.

If you are home (or work if they allow it) once the phone connects to WiFi that is what it uses for email and web data. All texts run through the data plan.

If you want to track what you are using for data, or see what app is the offending app get this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobidia.android.mdm&hl=en

Will track both data plan usage and WiFi usage, you can set warnings for certain limits as well.

Also, go through all apps and set them to manual updates, and set Play store to only update on WiFi

iPhone can send pics in text via wifi.

Only with iMessage and only to other apple devices. Thats the only thing I like about my iPhone. Otherwise I hate it and would shoot it if I had another phone to use.

On a side note, iOS 7 beta 2 is promising. still some issues but pretty good.

Also you can do this with android.... You can't change a iPhone wallpaper...

Oh my bad, you can but you can't see it cause there is no app drawer. I admit defeat in that one. But it took iOS 5 before apple could do what android was back when android 1.5 was out...... But I am out of this. I hear enough apple vs. Android on XDA......

I just entered the realm of the smart phone last week (my wifes fault,lol)---Galaxy S4...
