SteveC6R’s Bulletproof & Option Guide for the Yeti

So far I've seen a couple bent pair of those arms.

They are great looking, but my experience with any type of metal arms on any scale of RC is they will end up bent. Especially with my hamfisted driving

RPM is where it is at for that bullet proof solution "thumbsup"

For clarification purposes, what I consider to be bulletproof or a upgrade over stock is listed on Page 1, everything else is optional. "thumbsup"

Well thanks for the clarification, as I was under the incorrect assumption that everything in this thread was considered bomb proof-ish and recommended...

Not really sure how I came to that, as going back it seems quite clear! Oh well live and learn. Still love this thread, it's my first stop yeti part guide!

UC fab and Dlux Fab have a sway bar and links if your looking for a different option. Also fits the Yeti XL for those that own one. For more information see the Vendor section or Dlux Fabs website. "thumbsup"

Perhaps it is just me, but I honestly and truly think this thread should be a sticky note on page one so all the new visitors have the chance to peruse this useful info right away, and also for ones like me who use the darn thing like a yeti bible....:lmao:

I said this a few pages ago... I wonder if someone with a bit more seniority on the site could ask a moderator. I keep coming back to this page because it's now such a great upgrade list.

If you've had issues with the stock slipper pads Axial has released a new slipper pad for the YXL that also works with the 380 Yeti as they both use the same size spur, etc. It's made of aluminum and is supposed to be more heat resistant, part #AX31243.

It's also my understanding that the YXL has started shipping with these as a standard part instead of the older model.

And if the stock setup isn't enough, Robinson Racing has what your looking for. The Gen 3 slipper kit comes with either a 56t or 64t spur. Price is $53.95 or $54.95. This also works with the YXL. "thumbsup"

From Robinson Racings website:

BLACKENED HARDENED STEEL SPUR GEAR
Precision machined, hardened steel spur, with a blackened finish that improves lubricity (the capacity to reduce friction) and anti-galling (metal cracking/breaking from friction) characteristics resulting in better mating surfaces and smoother running gears.

SOLID BILLET ALUMINUM BACKPLATE
The backplate is 100% machined from airplane grade solid billet aluminum making it very strong and very hard. It will not warp or break. The backplate uses a captured design to hold the extra thick slipper pad solidly in place.

READY FOR HI-PERFORMANCE FUN??
One 7x13mm bearing, two heavy-duty washers, one steel hub, instructions and some RRP decals are also included in the kit. Hop-up your AXIAL YETI and unleash the power and the FUN!!!

#1556 - Axial YETI GEN3 Slipper Unit - 32 pitch 56T Blackened Hardened Steel Spur, aluminum backplate, slipper pad, steel hub, bearing, washers, decals and instructions included.

#1564 - Axial YETI GEN3 Slipper Unit - 32 pitch 64T Blackened Hardened Steel Spur, aluminum backplate, slipper pad, steel hub, bearing, washers, decals and instructions included.

Bell cranks
Double sheer steering posts
Caster / Camber links
Knuckles

Servo turnbuckle
A-Arms

Stage 3

Locker (rear)*
Shocks / Shock caps (aluminum)
Motor mount
Slipper plates

Diff gears
Axial universals

Stage 4

Shock tower
Toe block

Link mounts
4 link mounts

*Front will depend on locked or open.
**Stage 2 is based on a upgraded servo to get the full benefits.

I have based the upgrades on my personal experiences and of others in the stages I believe they should be addressed. My rig is setup as a crawler / G6 type rig so your needs may differ from mine.

Just in case some missed the thread, take a look at the mother of all rear axles by Dlux Fab, the EighteenZero8. "thumbsup"

Yea this one really has to make the list without doubt... For some of us poor people looking at it in pictures is about as close as we will ever get...if I start repeating "my precious, my precious" you might want to grab the axle and run....Just Sayin

If your like me and use a Currie on your rig UC Fab has a fix for those that break the Delrin skid plate, a titanium skid plate. Couldn't come soon enough seeing as I broke mine a couple months ago. "thumbsup"

Yeah I'd like to get me one of these, I pinged them on Facebook about shipping costs to the UK but then never got a response :(

Is there anything regarding the differences between the RTR and the Kit version? I just found this thread and maybe I missed it. I have a kit enroute to me and I'm trying to plan ahead. Is the "stages" equally applied to RTR and the kit version?

For the most part, yes. But the kit does come with some upgrades such as the universals, aluminum turnbuckles, aluminum plates for the trailing arms, metal steering posts, HD gears and Icon shocks. Some great upgrades in the kit so some things will be eliminated from the stages if you have the kit. "thumbsup"

I already stuffed my Yeti into a curb (darn steering is so slow, even on the kit version) so I'm already going to get VP knuckles and slw hubs. Somehow the driveshaft broke when I hit the front so I need a MIP driveshaft as well.

The plan is to just get the Yeti running again before I throw some Hot Racing parts at the crummy steering.

While at the RC4WD Scale Challenge in Disney, OK I got see something up close and personal coming from the guys at C.B.E. RC Fab, it is kick ass and will end the complaints about the front universals. "thumbsup"

More options for trailing arms for those that like options. SSD Yeti trailing arms with some nice touches...they've been killing it with some awesome parts of late. "thumbsup"
