The easy way around this is to window shop on Tower, Horizon, or a manufacturer's website, acquire part numbers and go to Stormer's site and put in the part numbers.
The nice thing about Stormer's is that they carry almost all brands, so I can order Hobbico and Horizon items at the same time.
Skeeno, I've actually heard mention of that style of searching before. Our site is VERY part number friendly. If you have a piece of the part number, likely you'll find what you need very quickly.
We discuss it all the time. What could be done to get people to what they need more quickly.
I will add though that anybody that really takes the time to learn the search tool, is rewarded with positive results. I think Towers search is actually very good. one box, takes part numbers, descriptions, whatever.
Ours is more targeted, with multiple ways to search.
You know what else makes searching for parts difficult? manufacturers that give their parts stupid names for the same item. I'll give a few examples. You're looking for a washer from Traxxas, turns out they call it a shim, so you can't find it. Dogbone, cvd, cva, axle, are all the same item depending on who made it. That can be tough to find. Header instead of manifold, tie-rod instead of turnbuckle, rim or wheel. Everybody uses similar but different jargon to differentiate their parts. This can make any part hard to find.
Usually whatever the manufacturer calls the item, or the actual description on the box or bag is what we go with. The rationale is that it's likely what's in your manual, and you'll have better chance of finding it. That and we try to use the EXACT manufacturers part number.
That way, if you're looking for a Losi a5015, simply typing in 5015 in our part number search is going to find it for you.
Thanks for reading. I can get a bit wordy. 8)
