Szczerba's #3744 Jeepspeed Cherokee

This is the first I've seen this build. Way cool. I've been thinking about doing an RC version of the 1:1 Jeepspeed my boss runs. #1724

Ive been wanting to do a Jeepspeed ever since I sold my first 1:10 XJ build in 2010. Ill probably hold onto this rig as it works great on the rocks or on the track.

Mounted up the DCW wheels I won with Gearhead rings, crawler innovations foams and 4.19 claws.
Jeepspeed body back on, same bumper from TTC setup. Gearhead was out of stock the rings I wanted but these look good.

Velcro hanging down, too...

Good eye, That is a prototype mechanical Holmes Hobbies drag-brake.

wheel openings on this one look much better than the red one.

and holy shit those wheels and rings look good.:lmao:

Those fenders were awesome.

I couldn't use 2mm scale hardware on these rings cause the holes are too big. I wanted their other less holey rings but out of stock. I like the look though. I really like the tire and foam setup as well. Doing some reading, this truck could be Class 1 legal, just need to hastily glue a windshield on it.

Do you know if Holmes needs any more mechanical DB testers!???????

Jeep is still hitting the trail.

Entered it into the King of Disney race at this weekends RC4WD Scale Challenge in Disney, OK.

Shout out to the DMG and Phillip for setting up an awesome 2.7 mile, well marked course. Rocks, woods trail, mud, hill climbs, dirt roads, you name it.

I started off up near the front, broke a lower link but kept it moving on 2-link. Pretty much jogged/spinted the whole 2.7 miles trying to get back up towards the front. Passed a few guys along the way. I thought there was one 2.2 ahead of me so I didnt stop my pace.

Crossed the finish line in 23 minutes and some change and no one was ahead of me!

Ended up first overall and first 1.9.

Custom 2-link setup for the last half of the race.

Congratulations and great build Shane!

..Uploaded from the lab @ the C.I. Compound...

Thanks, this jeep is right at home half throttle bouncing down the trail. TI lower links are on the upgrade list. Surprised the Axial AL links have lasted this long.

Congrats again Shane! Glad my ghost could help out.

I probably would still be chasing that Steve ghost if there hadn't been a finish line! That was a heck of a fun time, enjoyed it.

That's dedication to the cause zerb ;-)

With your baja claws, do you find much difference running them forwards or backwards?

Yes sir.

I have always ran them the normal direction. Indont like the way they look mounted backwards, just a scale look-preference for me.

Speaking of tars.

I won some RC4WD 1.9 Genius tires at the Rocky Mountain Scale Nats last month.
Mounted them up on the slick, custom made DCW wheels and MTHead rings. SLW hubs with rusty 4-40 hardware and some scale hardware from TSS.
Played with a few CI foam setups and this seems to be a good starting point. Since the tire compound is so pliable, you can stuff the tires full and they still conform on the rocks. Dug around my foam bins.

4.0" Deuces Wild foams with 1.55 med outers. I may narrow the outers a a touch or cut the corners off to smooth the edges.

If you found another cherokee body cheap.. you could cut a mil or two around the winshield line and carefully rubber cement it in then shoe goo it. It works. I narrowed a c-10 scalpel body and made a winshield like that.

Btw love the scale bulsa wood garage.

This has to honestly be one of the coolest cherokee builds and easily one of my favourite builds ever. Keep up the awesome work "thumbsup"

The Cherokee was kicking ass this weekend. "thumbsup"

Those tires looked awesome, I might have to hunt some down.

Friggin awesome!

My thoughts as well!

You talking about making a clear windshield?

Thanks. JWalker laid down a slick custom paint job on the shell and I am using a ton of awesome RCC vendor parts to make it all work. Gotta locate some Ti lower links soon.

The Bajar Clawers are a great all around tire. I think I have 4.25" Double Deuce Foams in them. Back a few pages or so.

Speaking tires.

Got the Genius tires all mounted up. They are a touch taller mounted but will wear in and shorten up once the foams break in. Knowing the super soft rubber, I jumped up an outer density than normal to account for this and high speed use.
