The Scale Shop Chassis Build Off Jeep Wrangler YJ

Kyosho Optima shocks huh? I've wondered how they would look. I just never
got around to checking it out. I have some of those around somewhere.
The Optima was my first hobby grade R/C. I drove the piss out of it.
Yes people I am that OLD!!!!!:lol::flipoff::lol::lol:

Me too. well I had the Turbo Optima!!! I just sold it last month. Had it over 20 years and it still ran great!

Looks Killer 8)

Thanks dude

Look what showed up today. A VINTAGE KIT!!!! Now I can get crackin' on my body for the buildoff!

Just got back from a 2 night bachelor party in Baltimore... Time to get crankin on this build off Jeep. Updates soon!

WARNING: ACTUAL UPDATE (not just blah blah blah)

Got a bit done on the body. I had to do some hacking"thumbsup"

I chopped off the side steps

IMG_0132.jpg

And some of the front fender flare to even things up. (rebuilt that later)
IMG_0133.jpg

I then built some solid a$$ trail armor. And re did the front fender flares to come down to the meet the new armor.

IMG_0136.jpg

I used heavy sand paper so I tossed on some bondo to fill in the deeper scratches.
IMG_0137.jpg

IMG_0138.jpg

I cleaned up the front grill and got rid of the light mounts. I also got rid of that license plate on the bumper and the side markers on the hood that I have never actually seen on a 1.1 YJ???
IMG_0139.jpg

I cleaned up the rear a bit and got rid of the body mounts and filled in the spare tire mounting holes. Cutting the right body mount out leaves you with and uneven tailgate hinge so I made the rest of the bottom one to look even.

Its not a ton but its a real update!

nice "thumbsup"

i think i am going to whack the steps of all my wranglers in the futre, it just looks better.

Well I hope not ALL of them! I think They do look good on a "stock" looking Jeep, but once you start getting into building a more off road machine then they have to go!

Great Progress. "thumbsup"

Looks much better without the steps.

Thanks I hope to get a bunch done today.

Minor update. Less than 2 days to the end of the build off.

I grinded down the bottom of the u bolts for a bit more clearance. You can see the difference it makes.

It sure is crunch time! I have been on this guy non stop since sunday!!!

Body is painted up!!! I hit the rocker panels/sliders with gloss black to add some contrast to the flat black flares. It just looked flat across the bottom body lines.

Interior is installed. Still some more to do there but time is not on my side!
IMG_0167.jpg

IMG_0163.jpg

Painted some hubs. Wheels are modded and gloss white Integy wheels with brand new Mud Thrashers. They are sooo shiny!

Still a ton more to do and less than 24 hours... Planning on using this roof rack and making a spare tire carrier and modding the front bumper. Stickers and the usual. Out door pics coming.

Sick! I love those axles under the Jeeps, they look so good.

Keep up the good work, clock is a ticking!!!

Thanks guys. I still have a bunch to do. I guess I will just keep going until the cut off and submit what I have.

I just put the Jeep Wrangler stickers on. I think it really added a nice touch, though on the right side they arent perfectly straight. Other side looks better. I should have taken poser shots from the other side. I "bolted" up the rockerguards/sliders as well. I hooked up the front and rear led's but didnt turn them on for these pics. (you probably couldnt see them on anyway) The rear lights are the clear ones from the CR-01 Jeep. I got them off ebay. Came with a Hi lift jack too! Panted them clear red. They light up real nice.

Body is all mounted up and I am ready to install the esc and RX. Should be a runner soon!

I really like how clean the white looks in the sunlight. OK onto to the pics. I still have a ton to do
