The unofficial official axial portal buggy.

Incision driveshafts fit perfectly.
Thanks for the info. While the stock driveshafts look to be strong enough, coming from race vehicles, I know how steering metal ones are. MIP & Tekno are "good friends" of my other vehicles.

It's actually my capra with the JEC mount on it in th picture. I requested it to be thicker mainly for weight. I have driven a friend's completed Capra and thought it could use some weight on the front axle. Quick easy way to do it. It's not for everyone. Some like to build lightweight, I prefer to tune with weight. It works for me. P.S. There are no clearance issues.

The amount of weight that an aluminum servo mount adds is negligible and it won’t have much if any effect on performance. Choosing the brass option surely adds more weight, but it’s up high on the axle which is a bad thing. Worse still is the fact that the weight of the servo is raised even higher above the axle by this mount. The raised servo would have more of an adverse affect when using the aluminum version of the mount. It’s just not a good design at all.

This is a portal rig. More than ever you want the weight as low as possible. Knuckle weights are going to sell like hot cakes for this rig for that very reason.

The prototype in picture is actually stainless steel. About the same weight as brass. I dont think the weight moving up an 1/8th of an inch is gonna hurt more then its gonna help. And until there are other weight options this will do. Buy what you want.

I didn't see SS offered - only aluminum and brass - which is why I mentioned those two materials.

I remember people trimming servo mount posts on old Axial axles to lower the servo as much as possible. Every bit adds up.

I do buy what I want and I won't be wasting money on that junk mount! :lmao:

Frank...look up :ror:

But yeah that's more of the product that should have been shown off.

There are certainly worse places you could be sticking blocks of weight *cough bumper mounts * but with the Capra the knuckle weights or heavier knuckles will be the better mounting option.

Thanks for that:lmao:

I was oh, look,its right there:lmao:

For a newb, think I'm getting the hang of this crawler mid stuff. Took a Dremel to some 1.9 foams, for use on 2.2 wheels. Not too shabby for my first attempt.

As long as they’re not egg shaped or t should be aight.
Definitely, not "egg" or "T" shaped...lol

Of the four, one is a perfect fit...less than 0.5mm smaller in diameter than the inner rings. The other pair is slightly larger (approx 1mm larger in diameter than the inner rings). Since 2 ended up one diameter, and the other 2 ended up a slightly different diameter, I'm currently about something.

Should the "perfect fit" foams be placed in the front, with the slightly-larger foams in the rear? Should the "perfect fit" foams be placed in the rear, with the slightly-larger foams in the front? Or, would it make any difference?

I leave the foams 1.9 and shoehorn them onto the wheels for a tight fit. Closed cell foams get beat down pretty quickly so those foams will be sliding all over the wheels in no time.

Can't do that. As photo shows, already used Dremel. Besides, that's stretching them over 1/4" in diameter...that's a lot of "stress" on the foam.

It's foam not a woman that small amount of stress isn't going to matter. I don't use 1.9 wheels but I do use 1.9 tires and foams often. It's a proven setup.

And a great-looking setup, from what I've discovered through reading lots of 1.9-related threads. Personally, from what I've seen, 1.9 wheels on 1.9 tires make the wheels look midget-sized. On the Capra, 2.2 tires look way to big. But, having seen the 1.9s on 2.2 wheels, just like baby bear, "it's just right".

Now, if I could only hurry up & finish my "special" interior, I could put everything together. At the same time, as much as I want to "hurry up", I also know that "taking my time" means it'll be done right. Besides, I don't wanna screw up my first crawler.

Anybody tried Losi Nightcrawler axles on the Capra? Maybe a good fit with the high geared transmission to Nightcrawlers low geared axles?
