TJ low-rider - 2010 Scale Nats Trail rig build

Hey Chris. Rig looks great!!! You should snap some pictures in the dusk with the lights. It would look trick!

Thanks again for letting me wheel your rig around. Now I have to finish mine up! damnit hahah

Glad you liked it Justin, even with those crappy scale tires on it ;)!

Rod doesn't know what he's talking about, and thats why most customers just tell him to shut up:lmao:

Lookin' good, mabey a stinger?"thumbsup"

I was trying to get him to make a hoop for it, but I don't think he's up for it. Mind you if enough people tell him to make one, maybe he'll do it.

No.

yeah! any plans for a bumper of sorts? this rig looks hot BTW.

No.

I actually did make a hoop for the grill, but didn't like the look on the front. Might try something else I have in mind, but for now, I'm happy with the bumper I have on there. It works, and isn't a limiting factor when driving.

I'm glad it was good inspiration for you to finish yours up. I would have to say this is definitely one of the most fun rigs I've built to date. It'll be a little harder to part with this one when the time comes, but my rcc ADD always gets the better of me :ror:

I'll keep working at it, one day I'll crack you. Whether you decide to do it because you want to or you've had enough of my mindless posts saying "did you build a different bumper yet"

Any updates Chris? have you been getting some good "seat" time with the Jeep? Any changes or add on?

Nope. Went away for a week with the family during spring break and left the rc's behind. Was good to have the break. Lately the weather has been crap here, but I'm hoping this weekend will be better and I'll get it out for some wheeling time and photos "thumbsup"

The jeep looks great man "thumbsup"

I can't wait to check it out in Montana.

Thanks man. I can't wait to meet you and the other builders there and see all these wicked builds up close.

Beautiful weekend out here, temperatures were nice and warm. Good not to freeze my butt off when out working on the rig. Got some more pics, including action photos.

First, the guts:

Look out son :D

No major problems at all, and my son and I ran it hard today. Broke the driver's side rear view mirror in a rollover...again! Little CA and it'll be good as new. Did lose a center cap at some point, didn't notice until I got back to the car. Went and walked the area a little bit and amazingly found it. I think I might take them off until scale nats, or at least when I'm running this rig hard, which is fairly often :D!

dont use CA, use some E-6000, you can get it at most craft stores. it dries fast and when cured is like super rubber. CA is like super glue and when it hardens it is more brittle and can crack.
Chances are when you roll it again, the mirror would break before the seal between the body and the mirror.
Looks good, cant wait to meet ya too."thumbsup"

Good tip, thanks. Yeah, this is the same mirror I "fixed" before with CA, so it obviously didn't hold too well

Started work on a new front bumper. Was never super happy with the old one. This one will allow me to run the winch line through the dummy 3racing winch to the 5995 servo winch under the hood and won't have as severe an angle to the line as it did before.

Pretty much done (other than clean-up of course!), just need to move the fairlead mounting plate a little further forward and of course drill all the mounting holes.

Looks great Chris. The hoop changes the look of the Jeep ( for the better) . Still against the idea of a stinger;-). Have you figured out what this little beast weights yet, or what your best guess is. What did I say last time, 8lbs?

Keep up the good work buddy, although I don't know what else you have in store for it, if anything that is.

Funny that you mention weight Justin. Still don't know what it weighs overall, but added another 1/2 pound :D :

2oz per wheel, plus vent holes drilled so that I can make the wheels/tires air tight with the addition of one beadlock screw. Should be good for when I play in the water, etc. I hate getting wet foams. I'm hoping that the extra weight helps at least a bit with rollovers.

As for the stinger, I'm still looking. I'm not big on the typical Jeep stinger for this build, just looks out of place. Needs something a bit more compact and aggresive.

hey hey, you finally added wheel weights, you've only been talking about it for the past month:lmao:. jk
Good idea with being able to plug the holes in the rims. I've seen you do that before "thumbsup"and I like how it works.

What, you don't think a 6" stinger would look good on this jeep:twisted:. I understand what your saying, this jeep requires a certain stinger.

Finished up the new front bumper. Now it needs to be dropped off for a coating of Black 73 at the powdercoaters  With any luck, I'll have it back by Friday and can get this rig out for some more driving this weekend. With the rain we're getting/supposed to get, I'm hoping there'll be some water/mud to test out the waterproofing.

Servos have now been plasti-dipped. Just need to balloon the receiver to make it completely waterproof.

Got the new bumper back from the powder coaters (2 day turnaround, that was nice!). I like the looks of this a lot better than the old bumper.

Need to add the decals to the dummy 3racing winch, and of course my winch line and hook. Ballooned the rx and further waterproofed everything. With any luck, I'll get it back out for a run some time this weekend. Despite the rain and snow we had earlier this week, it seems to have dried up a lot outside, will have to go hunting for some moisture!

Vote for me for TTC :D!
